"Finish the Fight", this is the phrase we all know and love as it brings us back to those great memories and to a time when many of our forge careers started. With the launch of Halo 3 on PC and with the new items introduced into forge we once again get to relive the spark that started it all.

In a collaborative effort with 343 Industries, we are announcing the Halo 3: Forge the Fight contest to give you, the community, an opportunity to have your submitted maps considered for matchmaking as well as a chance to win $1,000 from ForgeHub.

The Halo 3: Forge the Fight contest is a map building contest in which we will be revisiting our original roots of forge, but this time with the added bonus of new objects and more advanced forge controls. (We can phase objects by default now!). Lets go over the basics of the contest.
    • 4v4 Core Maps (Judges will be using BR starts for all gametypes)
    • Maps must be set up for at least one of the these core modes: Slayer, CTF, or KOTH
    • Maps can only be made using MCC Halo 3 forge
    • 3 map submission limit per contestant
    • No time restrictions on building. This means that if you have a map that you already started building or finished, you can work on it and submit it up until the end date.

You will have one month to finish and submit your map. When the submission period ends the judging begins and will end when we review all of the maps.

    Start Date: August 19th, 2020
End Date: September 19th, 2020 at 11:59PM PST
Judging Period: Roughly a month and a half

    Halo__The_Master_Chief_Collection_7_20_2020_10_49_54_PM.jpg
    Judges:
    SIR IRON WOLF
    BaconMedia
    Foge

Guest Judges for the Top 10 Maps:
    Unyshek
    Naded
    Whos Blaze
The main Judges will narrow the maps down to the top 10 maps which we will then bring in our guest judges to help determine the winners. Judging will primarily focus on gameplay and how well the maps fit the modes they are built for. We will also be looking at the technical aspect of the maps as well as art. With the new tools and objects introduced we expect to see maps utilize these new features.

Judging will also be done on the Xbox version of MCC.

There are some great prizes up for grabs this time around and just entering the contest means that your map may be considered for matchmaking!

    Prizing:
    1st - $1,000 and a ForgeHub t-shirt from FH + 12 month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate code from 343
    2nd - $700 and a ForgeHub t-shirt from FH+ 12 month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate code from 343
    3rd - $300 and a ForgeHub t-shirt from FH + 12 month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate code from 343

*Placing in the top three does not guarantee you map will make it into matchmaking.

Important tip from Blaze to get the most out of Forge with the budget.

"The items on the default canvases will count toward the hard object limitations of your overall piece budget. This is not conveyed in the UI and this happens even after they are deleted. They will act as a 'reserve' object. So the best practice is to reuse the existing pieces on the map toward your own. On Sandbox this will give you an additional 300+ pieces before hitting that object limit."

Organized canvases with default map objects organized can be found from @Faulk Smash. To download these canvases, use the "Find Player" option on your profile and type in "Faulk Smash" the canvases are called
    Sandbox+ GBlock, Avalanche+, Foundry+
Sandbox also has the Gaurdians blocked off so forging can be done in the surroundings of Sandbox.

Here's what I've seen other people add to their map submissions for mcc:

**Since MCC does not currently have a way to share a link to in game File Shares on the Halo Waypoint website, in order to download the map please do the following:**
      1. Pull up the roster in the main menu of MCC (“X” Button for Xbox)
      2. Click on your name
      3. Go to “Find Player”
      4. Type in my Gamertag:
      5. Go to “File Share”
      6. Go to “Map Varients”
      7. Download map

Until 343 adds in a functioning file share, it's kinda what we have to do for now

All of these kids complaining about the restrictions of H3 forge.

YOU HAVE PHASED PHYSICS NOW!!! You have no idea how hard it was to forge back then lmao.

Time to dust off my forge pants. I’ll have to suck it in to get them on I’m sure.

Haven’t seen anything about budget glitches lol. Is that still a thing?

I could really use a skybox/all original items canvas. Anyone know where to find that?

No need to budget glitch anymore you'll hit the 640 object limit way before you use up the budget.

      Ahh, I see.

Man, “save as” is seriously the only option? Come on devs what’s the deal? Redacted, found it lol.

So on Avalanche, I’ve not even reached half of the budget, but it won’t let me place anymore objects. Even if I delete something... RIP

      Budget isn't accurate there's a 640 hard object limit

also that includes all the objects already map regardless if they get deleted or not

for times sake lets say avalanche has 100 objects you dont like so you delete them all now you just lowered your object count to 540 and cant get those objects back.

Avalanche is one of the maps that got the object increase. I’m no where near half the cap.

Do you mean the budget cap? Besides that one, there is a hard object limit. Most likely around 640.

Hey, I'm new. Been looking for anyway to upload my PC files. I have a lovely map (and two maps that kinda exist, but I spent a lot of time making). My original plan was to upload my "good" map (I'm still new to forge in general) and work on the other two, but at least have something submitted for the contest incase I couldn't make the deadline. However, what I gathered, I need to upload it to Waypoint and there's no way to do that on PC because of specific reasons. This is all from a few scattered google searches, so IDK if this is accurate, or if there's a way for PC forge makers to upload files. So is there a way or is it just console locked for the time being?

We can try and host some lobbies ourselves as staff but if anyone wants to host a lobby for people to get together then we suggest posting it in our discord with info about the lobby and we can help amplify via twitter.

Did you post a map in the submission thread you want deleted? if so PM me which one and I can remove it.

For that just link your Waypoint profile (that should work) and in the description for the map on our site say its on PC. When you submit it in the submission thread make sure to put its on PC and we can get it.

What I found to be useful is flipping the pieces so that way the blue dot that marks the item is also facing the same way
Once you apply the coordinates you then have to press on that piece again and it should go in the correct way adjusting itself

I spent last weekend making the organized canvases, and have seen a few people use them so far and hope some more can get good use out of them. :)

PC Master Race can publish their maps by finding .mvar file in:

      %userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\MCC\LocalFiles

The file name is like 'ab922dc6-c07a-4ed0-9df8-857c24b55c57.mvar' sort by Date modified. Rename to [MAPNAMEHERE].mvar and upload [MAPNAMEHERE].mvar to a file storage to have a download link for the map post.

To play the downloaded map [MAPNAMEHERE].mvar drag the file into:

      C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Halo The Master Chief Collection\halo3\map_variants
