    Youtube Is Censoring Swears!

It's all over the website. Lol.
Almost every video I see there's some **** on them.

I even tried it myself. I wrote "****" as a comment and then after refreshing it, it then said "****".

    Discuss.

are you kidding me? thats retarded. why are they doing that?
well i just checked, and they are censoring the comments, but not the videos. which doesn't help much. but i guess it would take forever to censor all the videos

What do you mean why? The same reason they remove explicit videos.

The answer to this is simplicity itself, they do not wish to present a bad image to the world, so they remove what would give them a bad image.

Any serious website as big as youtube should have some kind of filter, it's just a step forward in progress.

    ORLY?

I've watched three pr0nz videos on Youtube.

So much for filtering out explicit videos.

So you expect that because they're more popular than ForgeHub, that they are more secure? That's smart. Like MOST normal people, they can't spot everything.

Adding to what he said, I'm sure it's been filtered out already. Given the sheer amount of videos submitted daily there is no way they can visually monitor them.

They rely, to a certain extent, on the community to help.

And I'm sure that those three videos you were talking about are down by now.

Cursing is a part of our culture, and I think that censoring is taking a step backwards. Humans are ashamed of their own nature, so they try to "censor" the parts that they do not like, but in reality, it's good to be able to offend someone if you are pissed off

Your argument is flawed. Cursing is a part of our culture yes, but it has it's place and it isn't on display. Be it a person, a website, a television station, it comes off as a negative aspect if cursing is a large part of what it/they display.

Also, the last part is nonsense (atleast from my point of view). The ability to offend others gets you no where, the only social benefit I can see from insulting another is if the individual insulted you first and you hold your own to keep the appearance up that you yourself are not weak.

And even my above example doesn't justify it, if they first individual didn't insult/curse you in the first place there wouldn't need to be any reciprocated foul language thrown back at him/her.

And I do have to argue that cursing doesn't have to be used to insult someone, I can offend the (pardon my language) hell out of someone without using any kind of foul language at all. A lot of people can, you just have to use a thing called "intelligence" in your insults/arguments.

Actually, if you're just blindly cursing and swearing you're argument will probably not be the best argument, nor the most offensive. If you're already thinking ahead and trying to plan out how to insult someone without foul language you're insults will hit home harder, and your argument will most likely be more thought out.

In my opinion, any kind of censorship is creating a false reality, showing the precious children in the world a false hope, that people will succumb to them and not curse just because a kid is around. I know it confused me as a young boy, seeing all the happiness on TV, and then switching back to real life, and it not being there.

Youtube isn't creating a false reality. They are saying to the world "We do not condone this type of behavior."

Im pretty sure you can toggle the censors off. Just look under where it says 'Text Comments' and click 'Options'. If not then this sucks.

On most Tv stations and radio stations swears are bleeped out or replaced with silly words. Youtube wants the content to be viewable for all of the users.

They should allow people to turn the filtering on and off in their profile settings.
