Those guys have good marketing. They make you pay $20 for 1600 points when you only need 800 for the maps. I haven't seen $10 ones, neither do I know if they exist. Your thoughts?
you can buy 1000 points straight from the live marketplace, or if you already have 300, you can get 500 more points.
Yeah, but it's a lot more convienient to go to the store next door. People don't trust the internet or don't want to make accounts.
It's more convenient to go to the store than sit in your room and move the thumbstick of your 360 controller or click your mouse (if you use the Zune software) lol? I can see how some people might be worried about getting hacked, but unless you're the top of the leaderboard on some game or get reconz you should be okay.
True, but then there are those who don't know how to use the internet that well or don't know whow to make accounts like that. Or don't have credit cards. Or prefer the cards.
Supposedly it because the small transactions (pics, themes, etc) would be too costly if they were credit-card-based, but its probably just because they want $$$.
It doesn't matter where on the internet you post your credit card information, there is still a chance of it being stolen and used by someone else.
Let's not get into a hacking/cracking argument, please. The main reason I believe there is the MS Points system is... Well, think about gift cards. You get them, you forget about them, and there's still a little bit of cash left in the card, but not a whole lot more. They'd make money off of you losing the code, or you not spending all of your MS Points.
xbox live is anything but lol, im still running for free on my Xbox live. I paid for a month two years back and Xbox live still aint got back to me
It's not as if you loose the points you don't spend though. If you buy 1600 points and only spend 800, you still have 800 and could spend them on something else. Are you seriously only ever going to spend 800 points? No, so they'll get used eventually.
But the stuff you download that doesn't break up the 1600 evenly enough will leave tidbits of points left that you can't spend on anything.
They would rather you payed more and had some spair points than you paying less and getting what you wanted. They have 2 purposes: Act as a gift, which makes them appealing for people to buy for others, making them money.. Act as a currency that Microsoft can monitor and control. Also like Nemi said, they make more money off you buying too many points and having leftovers.
The Xbox Marketplace is HUGE! If you are trying to spend the remaining MS points you have then you aren't looking hard enough, But I have a great Idea.. You buy 1600 MS points, and whatever you don't use.. You can give to me and I'll use them for you.. Deal? Deal.
I don't know about you guys, but I only used points to get maps and what, 2 arcade games? Bungie is making LIVE a fortune.
Also, Halo: Chronicals will have dowloadable episodes or levels (something like that) on LIVE. Bungie better be payed well.
