I am using a Cisco 678 Modem and a Netgear WGT624 Router (my Xbox is connected directly to the router via an Ethernet cable). Now, I've been trying to Open up my NAT, so naturally I went to my Router and configured it to PCHP On, which is basically the same as forwarding ports. Anyhow, I've checked numerous times to make sure my NAT is open, and sure enough my Xbox claims my NAT is open. However, in matchmaking, etc. my Xbox still behaves as though my NAT is still closed.

So...I was browsing the Bungie forums one day, and saw a topic which seemed to be having the exact same problem as me, with an incredibly similar setup (simply just a different brand of modem & router) and a person there says that DSL modems have a built-in feature which configures the modem to have a closed NAT, and since the Xbox communicates solely with the router, it says the NAT is open, but the modem is still closed, and therefore suggested setting the modem into Bridging mode. However, since my ISP (Qwest) are serious butts they refuse to help configure modems into bridging mode.

Anyways, long story short my Dad and I configure my router into bridging mode, internet breaks, we fix it, and get the "auto-fix" codes for the router to reset the internet if we break it again, which incidentally, Kapura and I did later.

Continuing, bridging mode doesn't work for some reason on my modems current settings, and Qwest won't intervene, so we're screwed in those regards. However, I was snooping around the Qwest site and ran across this PDF file and figured I would try forwarding ports 88 and 3074 to my modem, and try to open up it's NAT.

Now, the real question lies here. I know the Xbox's IP address, the desired ports and that both are UDP, but what I'm really wondering is whether or not a) this will do anything and b) will it open up my routers 'NAT' function and allow my Xbox to be a fully functioning member of society?

ATTENTION:If you simply skipped to the bottom of my word wall, go up to the Paragraph starting with the pink 'C' and read from there to understand what my question is.
