Would Halo3 forge be better if it had a Terrain editor (for outdoor maps Last Resort etc.) tool similar to Far Cry 2's???? Post your thoughts and please be respectful thanks!
I'd like to say yes, but the issues would outweigh the good points, and there wouldn't be such a sense of accomplishment.
Yes it would because it would give forgers more options. Though you'd have to sacrifice something in return. If you where to make your own hills/elevation you'd also have to go about geomerging everything straight for you map to be great. I wouldn't mind though because then we could bring back maps like Blood Gultch.
i think if you just straight up gave far cry 2's editor to halo's that would be fantastic. this would include terrain editing, automatic interlocking, and instant geomerging. there would still be a sense of accomplishment. because just because you have all the tools doesn't mean you can make a masterpiece.
I'd like to see a mixture of the two like you would build your map ground up then go through forge adding weapons and scenery.
Na. Forge's restrictions make it so that what it does offer, is available to be explored in huge depth. If it ha fewer restrictions, it would be far too big of a challenge to be understood fully to the point where it's true potential could be realized. It's the same for all games. What if Halo was an open world shooter? Yea that would be cool, but then it would lose other important things in the progress.
having more forging options is just adding more to forge. making halo an open world shooter is changing the game entirely.
I've never played FC2 or know how it works, but I think this would be good for aesthetic purposes. Or maybe even if some terrain affected players?(e.g ice like that one level in Halo 1 which had ice and made it slippery)
