Update 3/10/16: Thanks to ry ryno ryry's tip, I was able to get the map working in custom games! I also was able to make all teleporters not visible on the map, so everything looks better too! After a bit of feedback, I fixed a scripting glitch, adjusted a few teleporters to remove some shortcuts, and made the final jump puzzle easier. There is now a gametype associated with the map, called Icebreakout, so you can properly play the map in custom games. Still looking for a few more testers to iron out glitches and shortcuts! I've been making puzzle and obstacle course maps for like 10 years now in various games, and I'm proud to share my latest one in Halo 5 called Icebreakout! It is not completely finished yet, and is not the prettiest map of all time, but I am very happy with it! My goal was to make a challenging, but not too frustrating, puzzle map with a cool atmosphere. So I came up with a very cliche theme of the puzzles being based around escaping a prison. The initial ideal was to have "AI" guards moving around that you have to sneak passed. I found a cool solution by attaching teleporters to moving guards, so when they see you/run into you, you get teleported back to a checkpoint (I think I did enough checkpoints so it never gets frustrating). I couldn't do it exactly how I envisioned (I wanted to do a line-of-sight type thing), but the mechanic still works out pretty well! The map has a ton of cool logic puzzles, a few fun jumps, some skill based shooting challenges, and plenty of sneaking around! The map is for one player only. Check out some pictures: The prison cell where it all begins. Pardon the invisible teleporter markers, they will be invisible in custom games: Gotta be sneaky to get passed the guards: They still don't know you've escaped: Break room: The first logic puzzle, wonder what all of the colors mean: Prisoners shootin' some hoops and liftin' some weights in the yard: Strange medical testing going on here: A large puzzle of many rooms, hard to photograph: Have to get into this armory somehow: That's not even half of the fusion coils in this generator room puzzle: What's that flying in the distance: Your rescue has arrived, now just to get up there: This map definitely has some lighting issues (and probably others), but I would be very greatful to anyone who could help test this map out for me! I tried not to use any cheap tactics with the puzzles, providing a visual and logical solution to each. Let me know what you think about the difficulty of everything--that's really hard for me to judge as a creator! My gamertag is: CheeseJam. The map name and required game mode are called: Icebreakout. I encourage you to break anything you can think of haha. Any and all feedback is appreciated, thanks!
Were you trying to script invisible teleporters to the guards? Try regular sender nodes hidden under the floor or in the ceiling. (if the space allows it) Regular sender nodes worked for me in early versions of Run to the Shrine for both forge and custom games. Idk if they were changed in Hammer Storm though. Worth giving it a shot!
I was thinking of downloading and playing a few Halo 5 puzzle maps over the weekend, so I'll add this one to my list and give you my feedback.
