Hey guys, I have a new map I'd like to make a thread for called Navigator. I shared an earlier shot of this map on the WAYWO thread, but considering I just finished the ALPHA layout, I thought I'd make a thread. Navigator is a medium sized terrain based map set in the snowy ruins of an unknown race's design. The stations purpose is believed to be some sort of ancient teleportation site. Heres some pics! Navigator will support Slayer, CTF and Strongholds. I initially designed the map's layout after playing a game of Halo 2 on MCC and replaying the map Gemini. I completely forgot about this maps existence. So weird. I loved the aesthetics and the way the map sort of sloped upwards. But as soon a the nostalgia wore off, I remembered why a lot of people disliked Gemini. The back-rail (where shot gun spawns) was AIDS, the middle lane was too open and hard to push, I didn't like how those high ledges on each side of the big tree were only accessible by teleport, no real verticality, etc. So I wrote down all of the things I didn't like about it and jotted a basic design. I blocked it out, but didn't love it, so I deleted it. Fast forward a couple months, and I find the sketch of the old layout. I quickly decided that I did not want to do a covenant map yet, but I did want to do a snowy terrain map. So I looked up some concept art, and nailed the aestethic pretty quickly. But I wanted the gameplay to be better, so I infused elements of Chill Out/Cold Storage, because honestly, Chill Out and Gemini together makes kind of a really interesting layout. So yeah. Navigator. This map isn't close to being done. I need to lay down spawns, weapons, cameras and invisible blockers. I also want to push the visuals a bit more, specifically adding more foliage/flowers to the map. If anyones down to help with that, or just refining the layout, hit me up.
