Howdy from GT: Dorque Fu This is my first close to finished map for Halo 5 Forge. Been forging for a while (Halo 3), but didn't really finish a lot of things in previous games. Love the new system so I hope to put in more time in Halo 5. Excited to hear about whatever updates they have in mind for the mode going forward. Anyway, Freehold is a WIP, but I feel I'm close. A lot of aesthetics, lighting, weapons, spawns, location callouts, and other tweaks to complete and I welcome any and all constructive feedback on how to improve it. It's built for 2v2 in mind. I'm curious if the top middle is far too open. I want to put interactive platforms in the bottom of red and blue sides as well. Freehold is an atrium at the back of UNSC science ship Spire of Summer, a greenhouse and seed archive. Video to come soon:
Wicked atmosphere, the aesthetics here are perfect and fit your story wonderfully. As for gameplay, you mentioned you weren't sure about your top mid being too open, and I think that isn't a problem at all. It just means there's a lot of risk for the power weapon that's there which is great. However if during gameplay you find that it's just too open, I would take inspiration from the top mid of Midship, with those shields they have at each corner. Now, I see that you have shotgun in a really protected close quarters room. I'm not sure what weapon you have on top mid currently, but I have this idea that power weapons shouldn't always spawn in the ideal place to use them. If I was making this map, I would switch the shotgun with whatever weapon is top mid, so that you have to grab the shotgun in an unfavorable area (big open top mid, not CQB) and bring it somewhere where it is useful. This provides even more risk to grabbing the shotgun which I personally like. Also I'd like to add that not having played your map yet I'm not sure if my thought is 100% applicable or correct to do here, just thought I'd add that. With that, I will be downloading this and hopefully playing some customs on it as soon as you're done, it looks wonderful!
