Whirlwind is a map made for competitive play and the sequel to Whirlpool. It is centered around smaller, competitive matches such as MLG styled 1v1, 2v2 and FFA (2-6). The map is completely balanced for both teams or parties and has a great amount of trickery available at higher levels. Players are able to use the maps given assets to travel through out the areas quickly, thus lending itself to it's fast paced competitive nature. Though there is cover, there are an equal amount of good lines of sight. To further enhance the overall package, the cosmetic appeal to the map was thought out carefully and uses Tempest as a base. It doesn't feel like a Forge map per say and will undoubtedly lend itself to many hours of fun and competitive matches. Load it up and listen to the wind whirl, literally. Well, unfortunately I don't have the map pack that has Tempest in it. I'm also suprised noone has commented on this map of yours, Yama. I find it to be very aesthetically pleasing especially with all of the windows and trees around the map. My only concern is that with all of those windows that there might be a bit of framerate lag looksing across the map. I suggest if, if you have any, you remove the windows and make a balcony with some railings around the edges. That way, you can make gameplay even more enjoyable. Can't wait to see what you come up with next. Keep it up.
Thanks a bunch Eightball. Luckily it has zero frame rate issues, perhaps it has to do with Tempest, I'm not sure. Lucked out though. Glad you like the look of it. It's a fun map for 1v1 because you can usually see the other person, plus there are multiple routes to get to them quickly. So it keeps everyone on their toes. Definitely hope you get the map pack soon!
Truthfully, this doesn't look like much. It's got some cool ideas, but it's just too sloppily made, and there's too much cover in some places, and too little. There's too much camping ground.
I think having glass right under the tower makes the side of the map look weak and unrealistic. I would suggest you put some sort of support beams or something so people will both get a better first impression and a better feel that that side isn’t dominateable (hard to explain). But in peoples mind like for me, the water-side of the map in Hemarage makes me feel I can spawn camp with the Revenant, but when you get enclosed on the other side its more difficult. (mind gamers) Of course, unless that was you idea for the theme of your map then I wouldn’t switch it because a creation is a creation, Keep it how you want it. But ofcourse for a remodel is probably decent, I think just making it a little more realistic.
