I feel like things are relatively dead in the beginning of the week, but less people are posting, so perhaps a map is more likely to be viewed? Or since there are more people active on the weekend, it is better to post on a friday? Also, what are some methods I can utilize to try and get a map publicized or more widely circularized?

I second this. I always like to make videos. You could also try the r/halo or r/forge sections on Reddit.
