Bungie.net : Reach : Game Details This match? Those guys aren't that good, definitely not pros. All they do is stat-pad in Objective matches.
first day of btb heavies. I end up on asphalt heavies and jump to the rocket hog gunner seat. three of my teammates walk right by me as I honk the horn at them into the crummy ghosts and the rest go charging in on foot. I spend the rest of the game getting spawnfucked by laughing assholes. the very next game is one flag on hemorrhage. 3 minutes into a game a I get into a teammates mongoose to pull some ninja flag run ****. he drops me off inside the enemy base and I grenade out a nub and Friggin pummel a guy camping with the shotgun at close range. I walk out and my teammate is long gone. i get DMR'ed to death and the game ands up a boring stalemate.
Is anyone else annoyed by that laggy thing where you assassinate a guy and then he pops back up and kills you. its real bullshit when you pull a sweet ninja.
Has happened to me a few times. I also got once where I meleed somebody, a host switch appeared and after that I was suddenly in the middle of a assasination animation.
I played with some guys once who did this on purpose for giggles. They would go out of their way to get betrayed - standing in front of friendly vehicles, or just griefing until the target betrayed them. Then when they got the boot option, they'd go AFK until the game was almost over, to keep the boot option on screen, and kick the poor guy out with a few seconds left in the game. [br][/br]Edited by merge: There is one good reason to do it - it's more effective than the standard back-pummel. It has a wider arc of effect. I've started doing it any time I feel remotely safe to do so (no other enemies in line of sight) because between lag and people wiggling around like idiots, you never know when a regular melee to the back will fail to kill.
You have a hard time believing Bungie would deliberately buff a shiny new feature they were hoping to use to sell their game? I don't. I'll try to dig up the thread (it was posted here) where I got that information. I've never sat down and tested it, but my personal experience in the game seems to agree - it's easier to get an assassination than a one-hit melee kill from the back. I've gotten assassinations from some pretty unreasonable angles where I'm pretty sure a regular melee wouldn't have killed the person. Edit - found this and also this. I think that first link was the post I was thinking of. When I get a minute later, I'm going to test this just to verify it.
Nutduster is right, the animation is noticeably more generous in terms of angle, this works from above and below as well as side to side. Also, even aside from Nutduster's (likely correct) assertion that it's making a casual friendly mechanic more rewarding, it actually gestures towards balance. Easier to pull off but with a long window in which you can have your kill stolen or die yourself, makes sense to me.
Thanks, I was starting to question myself (such is the withering effect of Overdoziz's scorn). But I have felt that to be true for a long time. I've pulled off some pretty stupid assassinations in spots where I feel confident a melee would have only wounded them, and I've also had a number of times where I thought I was safe to just do a back-smack, only to end up dead because the guy I thought I killed whipped around and blind-sided me. (The moral of the story, aside from "do more assassinations," is "always make sure the guy is ACTUALLY DEAD, you idiot.") Pfff... you and your reasonableness.
Yeah, they didn't just extend the range of the animation, they actively slimmed down the range of the simple 1hk melee from H3, frustrates the hell out of me sometimes as well. Lol, I'm a pretty big hater when it comes to animations, I was actually a little disappointed with how logical it is when it occurred to me a while back.
You and Over are both gonna be pretty disappointed when Halo 4 has 100 selectable animations and the 1HK back-smack is completely eliminated. #startingcoolHalo4rumors
I was on Countdown in team doubles with my friend we were trying to find the other two players the whole match, turns out they were on top of the rafters in the lift room. :/
Dude... That was US trolling in the rafters... It was loads of fun listening to them kill each other trololololololol
Yeah well this thread is for failing in reach not making other poeple fail so I had to write something. I think alot people know about that rafter spot now.
I was playing a game of BTB on paradisio(who cares if I spelt it wrong I hate that map) and I shot a banshee out of the air with a sniper and the top part of it landed on my teammate and killed him................then he booted me.
you probably got HLGed Home - Hidden League Gaming for the uninitiated they get a few kills and hide in hidey spots. pretty funny until it happens to you.
