I know they already announced that Valhalla is the only remake, but if you could have had them remake any map, which would it be? This is also a nice way to see what the forgehub community really likes, in case if anyone really likes making remakes in the Halo 4 forge. I would do a poll, but unfortunately there can only be 10 options so.. List of all maps ever? Theres a list of maps if you dont know or remember. I will keep a tally of some of the biggest-voted. Relic, Citadel, and Headlong seem to be most-voted so far. Wetworks, Blood Gulch and Terminal are up there as well. Mostly big maps, wow.
I'd have to go with Citadel, followed closely by Guardian and Chill Out. The latter didn't recieve very good reception when it was brought back in H3, but I love the map personally. Probably because I like maps that can play small oriented team games well. Citadel plays some mean objective though.
I'd personally rather see a remake go into a big map, one with interactive objects (such as switches or moving objects), or one with very unique structures (ex: Last Resort, Avalanche, Containment, Terminal, High Ground, Relic, Waterworks, Infinity, Sandtrap, Timberland, etc...). My mentality is that if it (or a very compelling re-imagining of it) can't be forged, then it is far more worthy of remake than some map that has gameplay that can easily be replicated with forge. Sure, a forged remake isn't as good/detailed as a normal map, but the general gameplay and feel for that map can be captured pretty well, while it is completely impossible to do so with bigger/more interactive maps. Maps like Heretic/Citadel have details that are incredibly hard to forge smoothly, but I personally think that I can deal with the map having slightly more boxy edges while a 343 remake was going into something like Last Resort, which has a giant functioning fan blade in the middle. Note, this is talking about the general feel of the map/gameplay that the map offers, not the aesthetic beauty, because of course the small map would get the **** end of the stick in that department. Also note that this doesn't mean that I would want no developer-made small maps because that would mean that all 4v4 games, or less, would instantly mean grey-blocky gameplay unless a DLC map of that appropriate size had some sort of gimmick to deem it worthy. OT: I would probably pick Avalanche or Waterworks.
oh, so we are talking about stock remake maps? I'd rather not hope, much rather make it myself and save myself the begging.
I hate re-imaginations, so if i could have an exact replica i'd go with either headlong, or blood gulch (and by that i mean blood gulch, not the halo 2 version, or the reach try at it) just cuz they were both so damn fun.
Either or, since I know we shouldn't hope or dream. Looking at the list of maps, I would like to see.. Halo CE: Boarding Action or Chiron just for the fun of it. Most of the other maps are good, but these two are silly Halo 2: Elongation, Terminal, Waterworks. Terminal and Waterworks were cooler big maps (Vortex looks kinda like Waterworks which is cool) and Elongation was fun, might have to be made bigger because of all the AA's. Halo 3: Construct, The Pit, Isolation, and Assembly. Narrows could be good as well, same with Citadel. I played H3 the most of all the Halos so I am somewhat biased towards my love for their maps. Reach: Spire (if they made it symmetrical, or at least got rid of the whole invasion-set up area with just the rocks.) and Countdown. Tempest could be cool. I didn't like any of the Reach maps a whole ton.
To be honest, Paradiso from reach. But I don't think maps are big enough so a spiritual successor that emulates gameplay of that map.
1. Blood Gulch (then we would have some relatively flat forging ground) 2. Zealot 3. no more remakes please. Too many remakes will just drown out new maps..
countdown. because of the lack of vertical maps in Halo 4. Seriously, how could they have missed that?
You missed Adrift. That one was pretty vertical. BTW, do the remade maps have to be from Halo or can they be from something like Quake?
