going to try and be first up with a grifball map. perfectly foundry sized, thinking of calling it "original flavor"
I was thinking about it. I just called it wastelands. But the idea of a Vault seems interesting, really interesting too with the dishes as vault doors. Too bad we don't have rocks in the sketchup I'd have twice as many maps figured out. nice idea wanderer.
Actually, I am *almost* glad we don't have rocks in SketchUp. While it would be SO much easier in terms of planning maps, I don't want to think about how long it would take to snap each and every individual rock to another's endpoint to create a hill large enough for one of my planned maps.
i'm going to maybe start off by trying to remake some maps from perfect dark or goldeneye. STill not sure if that's possible as AA would break the maps.
\ didn't know you could do that. Has anyone came up with a FAq about reah custom games and forge 2.0 based on what we know already.
That would probably take too long. But, if anybody wants to get every Q&A done with Ferrex, info based on the vidoc, and anything else we suspect we know, and put it all into one FAQ thread, go right ahead. Be my guest.
I think you may be referring to a game called "Tribes". I loved that game on PC. We used to LAN it in my networking class. There were inventory stations where you could have preset loadouts... and capture the flag, tower, and base defense games were intense. I'm liking the ideas for maps like the Enterprise in a Docking Base, the ship from Alien, and Hadley's Hope ( which was something I thought of making on Sandbox, but don't think there's enough pieces. I personally was thinking more along the lines of Bespin aka Cloud City from Empire Strikes Back and making Hadley's Hope on Forge World.
How would you make Bespin? I get the exterior but the interior? Are there enough reference shots or would you kind of just make up the interior as you go?
Well when you watch the movie and look at other games as reference, it almost seems like there's two variations. IIRC in ESB, Han and Leia were staying in a suite that must've been part of the outer dome. They had a great view of the clouds outside their window. I've also seen in some SW games and sketches that there was an actual city built on a platform inside the dome. I think it would be much easier making the entire dome the city and add known key areas like the suites, the meeting room where they find Vader, and the Carbon Freezing Chamber... as well as the antennae for the final battle and the landing platforms for the Millennium Falcon and X-Wing Fighter. If you create a Star Wars Game Type, you could also create a Darth Vader with the Armor Lock, Boba Fett with the jetpack, and some Stormtroopers using the Sprint or Evade.
I think a good map idea would be to re-create the shield-door room from Star Wars Episode 1 (final battle with Darth Maul), just to take advantage of the new one-way shield doors. Of course, I'd need to actually see what I can do with Reach's forge before I can properly make it. It would possibly make a good infection map. Perhaps one of the different types of shield doors turns on and off over the course of the match, that'd be good.
Some of you may recognize this. I'm remaking it with a few twists. I'm naming it "High Wire", and I'm currently working on a sketchup version. Map Legend 1 - Platform "Blue East". Blue team falcon spawns here. Shotgun spawns here. 2 - Platform "Blue West". Blue team Banshee spawns here. 3 - Platform "Blue Mid". Blue starting spawns are here. Sniper rifle spawns here. 4 - Platform "Central". Rocket Spawns here. 5 - Platform "Red Mid". Red starting spawns here. Sniper rifle spawns here. 6 - Platform "Red East". Red team banshee spawns here. 7 - Platform "Red West". Red team Falcon spawns here. Shotgun spawns here. Map details - The bridges leading to Central will be covered from above to allow for safe movement from air cover. The platform itself will be open to make it less of a choke point of death and more accessible to air accessories. - The four platforms (two on each side) closest to central platform are raised with ascending bridges leading to them to allow for for easier cover of the central platforms from the rear lines. - Most platforms are visible from other platforms, so players must be ready to fight in all directions. - Each team will have access to plasma pistols, repeaters, needle rifles, DMR's, and I'm debating about giving them grenade launchers too. - Rocket spawn will be open and devoid of cover to make the mad dash to get it even madder. - I'm deciding on whether to have all bridges have overhead cover due to the amount of air combat that this map will have. I'll have to play test to find out. - I'm also debating putting in shade turrets on each side for anti-air, although the shades will have little to no cover to allow for ground units to kill them...which also means shades will have a good field of fire on ground units as well. That will also require play testing. - Platforms will be at varying elevations to increase the maps "verticality" and to give the jet pack a sense of usefulness. Game Mode - An expanded version of 3 plots with more points to capture and more time to win. Specific game options are yet to be determined.
Sounds good. I'd be willing to playtest for you, when you need help. But I'll have to see if I'm available first, of course
Wow nice sketch-up, was that a program you used? Which One? My ideas were like poisonous water using kill volumes and things like toxic caves for infection maps. And me and my friends like to role play on sandbox at the moment and we make houses in forge, Forge World is perfect in advance with Forge 2.0!
Once again back with another interesting idea, My plan is to build a large sphere or half sphere and a few buildings far below it. The Sphere is the Death Star, the buildings would be the shield generator. Spawning in the collesium will be the falcons (The Fleet) only three with two banshees (xwings). In the field you have ghosts (Speeder Bikes) One set of 4for rebels one set of 4 for Empire. Each Side will have a Reverant (to replace the Chicken Walker) as well. The Canyon will be endor. Invasion map, phase one the ground forces have to remove the shield doors in the way of the 'generator' Once the shields allowing access to the base they take down the shields around the Death Star, at this point the air battle will begin. the Three Falcons and two banshees have to take on 6 banshees (TIE fighters) and one Falcon (Star Destroyer?) from (if I can make a star destroyer, here I'd call it a super star destoyer, i will) a Empire base (or ship) as the Death Star spews out Laser death (Spartan laser or fuel rod) Entering a space in the huge sphere there will be the core, take it, get it to the trasnport before the Space station takes you with it.
I think recreating Ganon's Tower from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time would be beyond amazing. With the semi-circle staircases I'm quite sure it could be pulled off too.
