Like I said: Big fish, small pond.

That's a mis-quote. Nobody can truly know what's original was the quote. It's so ridiculous, so you can provide an example of a forge map that has introduced something new to level design, right?

Broadening the definition. No, I am telling you what it is, from a conceptual standpoint. Nothing new.

The approach is what makes every map different. That is where originality lies: the intricacies. But, conceptually, it's all been done.

I didn't specify that I was referring to forge when I said that in my description. It goes without saying, I figured.

I love how you used the term "obscure" to try to derail the fact that they did it first. As if a map ceases to exist after a period of time. The impact of the pioneers will last forever.

I'm going to say the same thing to you: Prove me wrong. Let's see this forge innovation never before seen in level design.

So what are the rules for this flag contest?

Will my map not qualify if I start forging before the announcement?

Oh, of course it "goes without saying" that your map was unique to Forge. Again, only when it's convenient for you is that distinction made.

I'm not going to bother digging through unreleased content or obscure 12 year old shooters you've never heard about because you're just going to deflect it like you always do. "Oh, it wasn't released or wasn't well known, so it doesn't count blah blah." This is like the 4th discussion where I've watched you ignore every point that exposes holes in your argument, and then you spin your original words in another hypocritical way. You are really good at rearranging words, I'll give you that, which is probably why you think you can make the same box play differently with "intricacies."

I'm going to say the same thing to you: Prove me wrong. Let's see this forge innovation never before seen in level design.

Where was the key concept in Halo before Multi made Arcanum? Where was the key concept at all before Elder was made? You are again making completely unsubstantiated claims, while ignoring your own extremely obvious contradictions.

Here's the best part, though. I don't even have to think up a map that hasn't been done before, because you claim that you have never seen anything like your OWN map, No Ceilings! See example A, B and C:

"I can't think of a map that looks anything like it."

"I can confidently say I haven't seen a map that looks like it before."

"I welcome new or uncommon things"

Here we see an xzamples in his natural habitat, making claims that he hasn't seen anything like No Ceilings. So no, none of us even have to provide an example of "something never seen before in level design" because you have so graciously provided one for us! Hell, you even said that you welcome NEW things, which obviously means that you believe new things can exist!

That's a mis-quote. Nobody can truly know what's original was the quote. It's so ridiculous, so you can provide an example of a forge map that has introduced something new to level design, right?

Oh, it's a mis-quote, eh? You're really ****ed now, mate.

Here, I'll even zoom in for you!

Not only were you NOT misquoted, but you even give and example of a map that you think is like nothing else. You're either a massive liar, or you have the memory of a goldfish. And before you play the opinion card, you still haven't admitted that Malta is a bad map, and you even said that Overgrowth can be a good map. Your opinions are irrelevant as they come.

I'm glad this is on a public forum.

I swear everyone keeps switching which side of the argument they're on. Like @Xandrith just exposed @xzamplez but he's not the only one. Everyone is just contradicting themselves but putting it in big irrelevant paragraphs to make them seem clever. I'm just confused now tbh...

I'm not gonna bother finding because that'll just keep this going on longer. my point is just that this arguement is stupid. Just stop guys. He shared a draft of his map. You don't have to all have a huge arguement about it.

Like I said: level design. Not forge, not Halo. Level design as a whole. The key concept is a more versatile approach to a switch, which opens up extra routes. Switches are in games as old as wolfenstein. The approach makes it different, but the concept was established.

I was viewing No Ceilings as a whole. Conceptually, the layout introduces nothing new to level design. It was never meant to, and I never claimed it did.

Even though it's cute you've misinterpreted my words about my map, my point stands: You can't name a single map that does conceptually innovate. You, who is so driven by 'originality' and providing 'unique' experiences. Until you substantiate that claim, your point is moot.

Yes, I did mis-read what you quoted. Not a big deal. I still hold the belief, obviously.

I'd argue irrelevant opinions are more value than regurgitated ones.

Lol, you care way too much about others' opinions of you. After High School, most people grow out of it. But, I guess you're a late bloomer.

You mean well which is good, but these things come and go in this thread. Asking for people to stop giving their opinion or arguments will not help.

    No offense.

Deflection, ignoring half of my points, and flat out lying hasn't worked, so out come the insults. Classy!

Just realized the only forge map posted in the last 5 pages is InvisiLock.
That picture focused week went pretty well then... :rip:

I addressed every point you made.

Show me a conceptually innovative forge map.

It wasn't an insult, it was an honest observation. Where have I heard that before?

I know. I just feel like there should at least be a separate thread or something for these sorts of arguements. Or they could just start a private conversation. This thread is meant to be a WIP thread but at the moment it's just full of arguements and isn't very welcoming to new members etc. I do understand this is just how it is but I also understand this isn't how it should really be.

Every single time so far that I have pointed out your extremely inconsistent stances, you have completely ignored it. You haven't failed to insult me, though. You're good at that.

Maybe you have a point, though. I should care less about others opinions.
