Multi hasn't told me anything about his map. But from the screenshots you already know that the map favors rotating to the top positions and pushing people out of rooms down to lower levels. And each time you want to get a power weapon, you're exposing yourself to another sightline. From the screenshot, you can see that there are plenty of them on the map, but they're controlled because the pathing changes elevation, direction, or size every few feet. That means you can only see them from certain spots, unlike a map like Shurima where you can see everything from everywhere, and get there just as fast. Multi's map, and any good Halo map can be slowed down if 1. Both teams play passive 2. One team plays passive and the other team is retarded But if one team plays aggressive, then the other team is ****ed because you will be punished by the bleeding sightlines. I don't see anywhere to hide for long on that map, so I already know how it's supposed to play. A bad Halo map is one where you either have no choice but to play fast or you cannot reward player aggressive because it's too easy to escape.
Sounds better than every map he's ever released. Spoiler I'm totally not serious. It was just too easy, lol.
This guy won't go though a teleporter if he comes out facing a different way, you think he can judge maps --- Double Post Merged, Mar 24, 2017 --- And that's exactly why I built it lmao
If the art made it look like an Urban city or something instead of another generic indoor CE map, it would probably be pretty well received. There's your contest Multi - post the block out and let's see who can art it up the best.
Give me 45 minutes and I'll have another solo style map for you guys. Give me another hour past that and I'll have 4 more, because I'll already have the octagon prefab. Also I'll no longer be posting Arcanum but actually deleting it tonight and only posting generic octagon shaped honeycomb maps in vein of Solo and xzamples because that's the kind of generic boring bullshit that gets rewarded in this community. Maybe I'll win a contest this way
Curious to see how my Box WIP map would have been received... yikes i mean minus the fact there is no art and GREEN ****ING RECTANGLES <3 --- Double Post Merged, Mar 24, 2017 --- THIS
Also, if both teams play aggressively, it's not a good measure of a map's potential. Aggressive play tests spawns, but passive play is what tests geometry. If I understood this when the contest was being judged, I would have had very different opinions. Most of my games were aggression vs aggression, but that's not how everyone plays. In fact, I'd argue that most Halo players are passive. If I were to hold my own contest, all the Top 20 maps would be tested 3 times - aggression vs aggression, passive vs passive, and a mix of both. Ideally, this would be done with people who were capable of doing both (I'm actually bad at camping so I can't play passively). After that, you should be able to tell how the map will play in any given matchmaking scenario. But again, we had no idea the maps were going into matchmaking until last minute. We played some maps aggressively, we played some maps passively, and others we just ****ed around. I think I used a Needler the whole time on Orxgens for example.
Why do I feel like my port 66 salt somehow snowballed this haha I love map design and I love all of you. This community is awesome. I'm not being sarcastic. Its actually awesome to see people so passoniate about there beliefs. Now imagine if H5 was actually halo and these arguments were relevant lol
I think contests should outsource there player base and then watch films of those games and judge from there.
Multi don't even joke about deleting Arkanum I will ****ing send an assassin to Treyarch to stab your anus
