Going to try a super small, sweaty, 1v1 that I can already hear people bitching about it. Worth a shot for the Ghost in the Shell comp.
I think many people underestimate how much an FPS'a player base determines on average what is considered a "good" or "bad" playing map for said game. Clearly there are black and white objective rules in the FPS genre, but a games player base more or less determines what a "good" and "bad" playing map for said game is. When a FPS game is marketed and sold, it is marketed/sold with set objective player traits, set game modes and a set number of dev maps. These in combination with each other paint a clear picture for how the dev wishes the game to be played. If the consumer does not find the overall game-play enjoyable for there preferences they wont buy the game. If they do buy the game for other reasons, they will likely not continue to play the game. In this manner all games dont necessarily have maps that maximize the games potential meta, but rather maximize the potential for the widest possible audience to enjoy the game. These two things are not as synonymous as you would think they are. What the average player enjoys in an FPS is extremely linked to sociological trends in society. This is the reason we saw such an influx in the COD player base on console over the last decade and likewise among the PC player-base for Counter-Strike. Does COD really represent the best FPS consoles had to offer in the past 10 years? If you answer no, then why was it by far the most popular and sold FPS game on console in the past decade? How a games shipped dev maps affect its player base is also very interesting to me. As alienating as H4's base player traits and game modes were, would Halo 4 be as negatively received by the general Halo Community as it would of if its shipped dev maps supported game-play more akin to what the average halo fan enjoys? I mean, look at what Skyline did for the game. 1 map basically rejuvenated the competitive community. 1 MAP. Its actually mind blowing to think about how subjective map design actually is and how it affects a games player base. Food for thought, Food for thought.
Tries to be funny in order to sell image. Fails. WyvernZu post immediately afterwards. Immediately overshadowed by the master. *Loud typing intensifies* ... Probably comes off as a bit of a ****.
I remember my dad repeatedly kicking my butt at street fighter on super NES. Could not beat him that bastard.
Do you think the base dev maps in Halo 5 suit the game's gameplay? I tend to side with the opinion that most of them don't really allow Halo 5's gameplay to be optimally played. For the most part, they're much too cramped and busy for the multitude of movement options that Halo 5 offers. Maps from previous Halos weren't actually all that different overall, but the much slower and more predictable player movement made them work.
Gotta start work on my GitS (I like this acronym) submission this weekend. Gotta a couple of rough layout ideas and some art concepts too, so will see what I can put together.
Maybe some of you get triggered by these. I've been grinding this game lately, that's why I don't have anything else to post, hehe.
For Honor? How do you like it? I've had a $50 gamestop gift card sitting around since Christmas and haven't found anything to get with it yet.
In short it is customer service. You identify what customers want and make it. The problem is it alienated a ton of fans of the series because if they wanted to play cod they would play cod. Not the mud of a game that every title was after 3. There was also a spike in reach when zbns came out. I blame Reddit and waypoint for having people who want these things, cry when someone argues with them and do nothing to promote the game or make any content. The people who have done the most as far as building content dislike the game the most. --- Double Post Merged, Feb 24, 2017 --- Do you think your more retarded than me?
How many really good forgers would there be if Halo 5 was the first title to have forge? Ugh I just looked at some Halo 4 forged maps... how the hell did people use those ugly pieces of ****?
