I literally dropped Skyrim cause of it's awful melee combat. So clunky and not responsive. I couldn't get used to it at all. This game is more hack n slash but feels way better imo.
Combat gets a lot better once you develop your skills more. What direction are you focusing on (red, green, or blue)? I focused almost exclusively with magic, with a bit of physical combat and I found it really fun once you start getting to the later developments.
I was joking the combat is really good but so far mostly red. Does magic get way stronger later on? Right now it feels really complementary
I think I'm like a level 32 right now and I can take on bosses my level without touching them. I've fully developed each of the 5 signs as far as their different variations and those 5 are unique enough that you can take down different kinds of monsters. Quen is super useful later on, as it can act as a shield that protects you from taking damage. Igni is the damage dealer, and the focused stream variation destroys pretty much anything but earth elementals. Aard is my least favorite honestly, but it's good for getting flying monsters on the ground. Yrden is great for changing the battlefield to help you out, either making a slowing field, or a damage dealing beacon. Axii is really good for dealing with multiple enemies at once, as once you develop it you can have one of your enemies join your side for a short time, and it actually works well.
A dark human themed sewer was my first thought when remaking this map however I wanted to challenge myself with the prospect of reinterpretation. It was a close vote but when the tally closed people wanted to see a Sanghelios water temple. I'm glad it went this way to be honest, its such a visually different experience than its predecessor that its refreshing to recreate.
Fair enough. I would never make a poll asking people which artpass should be added, though... Sanghelios water temple simply sounds more interesting than human sewer, and I'm betting that most people voted temple because of that, even though it might be the wrong choice. Are you?
Plus there's always the issue of people are voting for Sanghelli because it's new, not because it's the better option. I actually don't mind the theme, it looks very nicely forged, the lighting's strong and your piece usage is better than most, but I have to wonder if it'll get lost in the sea of Sanghelios that's currently dominating the forge community. Maybe try both themes and see what playtests better?
I'd argue yeah, absolutely. At a core level the layout's the same, but things like lighting, colour and texture choices can inform players about layout on a more subconscious level, and help sell the intended mood of the map in the process. Basilisk in its current form is more evocative than claustrophobic, so a switch to a human sewer could subtly change how players would behave and react to the geometry.
I guess so. Maybe lighting causing areas to be darker than others but if the layout is the exact same but 2 different themes then it shouldn't "play" much different at all. Maybe some small changes here & there like a walkway might have railing in a sewer where it wouldn't if it was a "water temple".
It's an odd one for sure. In theory no it shouldn't, and there's plenty of evidence to back up theme changes in Halo, but I do firmly believe that the right aesthetic choices are crucial for gameplay. It may just be a conclusion I've made myself though. I'm really keen to put this to the test now...
I'll be honest, this looks amazing. I say this not just because the style and aesthetics looks great, but because it is actually refreshing to see someone use Sangheili pieces that don't look like they were just thrown haphazardly into a map because they are cool new pieces from the update. This map legitimately looks like something from Tomb Raider, which rocks. Also, it's true when I think of a Basilisk, I think of Harry Potter and the filth of sewers it slithers through... however, I've felt there's been an inundation of dark, creepy, or spooky maps in forgehub over the past couple of months and I'm tired of them. The bright lighting suits this temple theme in my opinion as I assume it won't make players want to hide in fear, but instead want to explore and take in the mesmerizing sights.
DON'T DO IT HE'S LYING MULTI THEY Spoiler TIE YOU UP AND LEAVE YOU THERE! YOU FINISH WITH NEITHER. Unless you know, that's your thing. Plus Triss is way cooler in the series, antagonising Yennefer and making her moody is far more entertaining. Also, play on Death March and with enemy scaling on, it's super rewarding and the difficulty spike when you get to the bosses in the expansions is hilarious at times.
With some of the upgrades you can get in Blood & Wine Aard can be really fun when it also has the chance to instantly freeze and shatter enemies. Fantastic crowd control. Also, don't sleep on the Axii sign @MultiLockOn - sometimes being able to turn just one enemy can be immensely helpful. Personally I focused on melee skills (mostly because the slow-mo finisher that can happen are too badass not to) and supplemented with signs, ignoring alchemy almost completely. But I think you can genuinely play with whatever build you like (and if you don't like it you can always use a clearance potion to refund all your allocated points and start over).
