Man forging can be bad for your health. I stayed up till 3 last night forging away and had no idea it was so late. Then I proceed to try and sleep and was unsuccessful. Kept thinking of new ideas for my map. Mind was racing.

The problem is too many ideas. There is too much then Tom French just has to be a badass and add 1000 new items so I have to update every map. I stood up until 3am making log cabins, it was worth it but I hate myself, I completely understand how you feel. Here is an example, there are 3 of these guys in different forms, one is even 2 story (': Im so tired help me

Taking a break so good luck with that. I have no good ideas and the sym I finished last weekend was ****. I won't be making any more symmetrical maps and until I have a good idea for something that will actually play in a unique way, I'm done. I'm so set in my approach, I need to take a step back and try to forget my process.

It's like, what do you do when you make a masterpiece like White Cell? You retire. The only way is downhill from there.

jk. I walked around Missionary last night and it was stunning. Really think it would be great for FFA. I am eager to get some games in on it.

More of an art test than anything. Not sure how the current planned layout would play.

Why not do something different? Try your luck with an infection map, a minigame, hell even a BTB map. Forging probably gets pretty old if you don't go into different territories, I bet you would have a lot of fun...This is just a suggestion though.

I'm having trouble finding a happy medium between structure and terrain.

When I use mostly terrain it feels so bland especially with the limitations of foliage options.

Going with structures I keep running into issues with not having small enough blocks for detail (2 width is just too big) and then needing to populate these structures with "furniture". Empty structures just feel like model homes and lifeless

What type of furniture? There are quite a bit of small objects that you can texture or work with after the update, one of the smallest pieces in the game the small breakout support pieces are now textureable as well as panels which are 1 thickness. If everyone here knew what type of "furniture" you need to make then you could get some advice. But props and breakout pieces get you a long way. I mean hell you can make something simple like a fountain with a solo cup and some minor work.As far as terrain goes though it does kind of suck, thats why I like winter and desert maps so much, they don't need much to look accurate.

I'll have to check out those breakout pieces. Haven't really looked through them yet. I really need to cut myself off from primitives

Try using some stuff like the new sandbags and recoloring them. They can make pretty detailed furniture pieces.

Well there is your problem, you have to get creative, use cables for chair legs, use textured man hole covers for detailed small table tops, use breakout pieces for a comforter, hell one of them works as a handle, I can go on forever about possible combos for furniture, I have spent countless hours making damn furniture and you have to use a lot of odd pieces, and yes sandbags are phenomenal for couches but are awfully budget intensive, so I recommend using blocks for a base, then cushioning the blocks with sandbags to conserve some budget, weld it together and put it on normal physics for extra interactivity and awesomeness.

Since I feel like there's been no pictures I'm gonna post some pictures of things that won't get finished, aside from one.

It's all good. ^^ No framerate issues at any position on the map and it loads in just fine, even though it takes a while because of the mediocre XBOne grafic card.

I just thought of a cool way to utilize forge. I like to write. Primarily in the fantasy genre. The locations such as villages, castles and cities that I have in my head I can only express via writing. I am terrible at drawing and I think it would be cool to see my locations that are in my head in a different form than just words. I want to try to create what's in my head and paper in forge since I can't draw worth a ****. Not really to show off to the community but to have for myself personally. Dunno, just thought of it when sitting in a Starbucks and thought it was a cool way to utilize the tools in forge.

Needs lighting and a ton of aesthetic polish but the early shell is done.
