Would it be possible to force players out using a Gravity Volume a few seconds before the hallway seals up?
trapping is still possible. The gravity volume thing is an idea I could deal with, but I really don't want to have to hold player's hands so they don't get stuck in there. If the player isn't aware, I blame them
I was thinking something along the same lines. In retrospect it's pretty crude comparatively haha. The Blue are invisblockers. Excuse the quality. I'm at work hah. #2 would only work if there wasn't a hall above it that it could interfere with. Also, you'd have to place the weapon in a wall cubby so it didn't get force out either, or make it phased. It would just raise and lower with the gate script.
Hahah screw you man! I wanted to see what it was like driving a ghost around on the map and found that it could navigate way to easily. The foreground pylon on the left was placed so the ghost couldn't float the corner. Symmetrical harmony OCD is to blame for the rest of them. And before you wreck me for the ghost, there's only one explanation for it. WIP.
Scripting invisiwalls to push players out would probably be easiest, but something tells me using two walls perpendicular to the floor rather than a single triangular block would be a little less buggy.
Benefits of an angle coming out of the ground is being able to rush out one side or the other still giving you the option somewhat (depending on the speed). There's still the possibility of chilling on the top of the angle. I'm not sure if you would gently get pushed to one side or the other or if you would get torpedoed out when pressed against the ceiling haha. With the perpendicular walls you would HAVE to go out the side you were on.
Would there be a time period after the judging is over for us to fix some things in our maps to make them playlist compatible or just tweak some things in general? Or are you guys strictly picking maps that already were compatible with what matchmaking requires. I realize it was supposed to be a surprise, but I'm curious still.
Obviously the goal is to get the best maps possible, and if that includes pulling some that weren't submitted to the contest, then that's what we'll do. The contest saw a ton of fantastic maps and it's unlikely that there are many others out there that are on the same level as the top maps from the contest, but we're open to seeing them. Perhaps sharing a list of these maps you're referring to would be more constructive than complaining about something which hasn't happened yet. As usual, maps will see final tweaks and polish before being integrated into matchmaking.
I've finally come up with a new version of my Acropolis map. Here's a flythrough clip taken last night during a playtest. And here's the beginning of the first round of Shotty Snipes I ran. I had a ton of fun this match My gamertag is PSYGASM and the map is named "The Akropolis" in my files WIP Thread
Will the 2v2 playlist be a permanent playlist? I'm tired of the weekend gametypes. As for my work in progress, I'm currently working on a 1v1 map. I have been playing a lot of 1v1s with my brothers and wanted to create a Guardian/Lockout feel map with just natural terrain. I'm realizing that my maps layout is kinda looking a bit like some of Goat's natural maps. I guess I still have them in the back of my head while forging. Anyways, I was messing around with some pelicans and made a cool spaceship destroyer thing, I'll add pictures of it tomorrow. Happy forging.
Just some stuff I'm working on right now; Samsara, Memento, and a Dark Souls inspired thing. On Samsara I'm going to build a cliff with a lift up from Incinerator where those angled cliff pieces are. Memento is more finished on one side than the other, it will be mirrored over when I finish it. and the dark souls thing is just kinda a mess of ideas right now.
Very cool stuff, keep it up. How did you build the curved stairs in the dark souls themed map? I must steal that.
Thanks, some Jack kid made it Salty helped me find out it wasn't the fire causing framerate, so I think the health drain pit will get to stay!
Again, you guys aren't transparent and we are left guessing. Based on warholics post, which is technically the first time this 2v2 playlist was offically mentioned on paper,or at least the first time I've seen it. Its not a stretch to see how someone could confuse what war said with meaning the playlist will only contain maps from the contest. Don't be a twat. I was personally messaged by another cc saying THEY were left out of the loop lol. So don't come at me with your bs nerd. Edit: For the record I don't really care what you guys do. But i reccomend going and playing some more destiny, heard its a great game.
This is sad to witness...what a shame. I thought we were better than this. I'm very receptive to feedback but the tone here is depressing me. In other news, a lead multiplayer level designer at 343 will help judge the Throwdown maps since A 3 Legged Goat is no longer able to provide assistance with this due to personal conflict issues.
The CC's are bound to Non Disclosure Agreements with 343. Of course they could fight 343 on the issue of keeping MM plans a secret, but I think it's safe to assume they're alright (or even prefer) the status quo. Some have made arguements in the past why it's better this way... but whatevs. The sooner forgers stop caring about these things, the better off they'll feel. It's all pretty silly fighting it anymore. Hopefully none of the CC's take this as an attack against them. Not the case.
