Maybe because Halo is about the Halo rings and not Cortana having the existential crisis.

So we should have the pot revolve around the rings ad nauseum? They were a great mcguffin for the original trilogy, but is it really necessary for them to be central to the franchise?

Not to bring up an old topic, and to be honest there was so much going on that i caught the gist of it though.

343 coded specifics into forge for budgeting sake that noone outside of 343 can say why.

The short answer is that 343 felt the need to cap hard object limits of specific groups based probably on internal statistics, that the end user doesnt see. And while modded canvases broke the count of objects by bypassing the value in increments of 255. you still could not bypass the HARD object limit.

Assuming the one ever gets modded, which to be honest looks doubtful anytime soon, you will still see the hard object limit no matter what. Its not to say you wont see 2048 objects though.

Im going to assume though that based on previous titles mind you, that 343 left wiggle room just like bungie did

For the mainline titles, yes. Or at least until something as compelling takes its place, which neither cybertron or giant Transformers have come close to doing.

Really man? The franchise is called "Halo" because the interesting aspect of Halo, is in fact the Halo rings... Halo 4 and 5 had nothing to do with the rings. In fact, Halo 5 almost had nothing to do with Cheif, the second main aspect of the games. You may be glad they're exploring other things, but there are ways of doing that tastefully. The ark for instance in Halo 3. 343 has only ruined the expectations of people's imaginations. Think about reading books for a second. Books are better than movies because you get a specific vision in your mind of what is being described and that is what makes it great. It's yours. 343 has given a face to ALL the mystery in the universe. Seriously, all of it. Even Chief... It stomps on the visions of true halo fans, and that is why 343 reeceives such backlash. Combining that with a poor game and people get upset.

Look at Star wars VII, it is the highest grossing film of all time. Would it be that way if it wasn't a star wars film? No. But it took what people loved from the originals and used that to strengthen it. Actually Star wars is a perfect example.

    Episode IV, V, VI = Halo CE, 2, 3
    Episode I,II,III = Reach, 4, 5

Episode VII - went back to the original style of film and became the highest grossing film of all time.
Halo 6 - if it wants to save the franchise will do just that.

Just a small part of my video series script :p

we should have a forgers fight club so instead of being passive aggressive we can just physically injure each other.:fat::salty:

I don't think I want to see a bunch of Forge nerds in a fist fight.

I thought I had an idea of what it meant, now I'm not sure.
I was simply fishing for examples, so I could understand the concept. I've heard it mentioned several times on the forum and I was hoping to dig a bit deeper into the concept before I started exploring some symmetrical designs for my next three out of four maps.

I thought it meant maps like Solace, where the back of the bases where geometrically built differently, but offered similar flow. But after hearing everyone's xzamplez, I'm more confused than when I originally posted.

Does it mean that any map that isn't say Wizard/Warlock/MCC version or Element symmetrical, functions asymmetrically?

The way I see it is Isolation. That map was symmetric but one team spawned at the bottom of the hill & the other up top. I think... I am pretty sure it did though it has been a long time.

They did in High Ground... but on Isolation each team spawned by their Mongoose area. Isolation was the one with all the poop shoots.

I remember which map it was but man, I felt like I remembered spawning one team down low at one end & the other up at the top of the hill by that structure. Must be thinking wrong. Wasn't there only one Ghost down under the bridge?

That is often what the maps spawning ended up being part way through the game as people often were at snipe or shotgun if they were not on the bottom.
@thefro3po I think colossus is probably the best example of a sym. playing asym. Where there are other one way maps like the pit and midship that play more side to side as it is better to trap a team in a base rather than the low or high side.
Solace is functional symmetry as it flows the same but it has slightly different **** going on. I hope that helps.

My point is not what game was more popular, but just that comparing different types of measurements doesn't make your argument any stronger. Here you do it again by comparing a UU/24H number to a ranking on a list with no actual population numbers.

You can just compare rankings of Major Nelson's list with each other just fine like you just mentioned, but this again doesn't really give you a good idea of how many people played the game, just that relative to other games one game was more popular at the time.

Any good player knows never to go sword alone. Sword is like no mans land. The only time to go sword is during a flank, a team push or custom power up drops. Don't all maps have these no man land areas?

Then maybe my post wasn't just in response to you.

Regardless. That doesn't make your response any less childish.
