The Evolved settings are certainly an allure but frankly I think this game is too far out in its lifespan to draw an exceptional crowd. Still fun, though!
Yeah I've had a ton of fun playing those settings lately especially on that one covenant tower map it's pure madness
And funny thing me and given accidentally left our team open and two randos joined and signed us up, idk if we'll have time to participate.
It's definitely unfortunate to see how "eh" the set up has been advertised and planned out for a tourney as delayed as this. It was pretty much an achievement in that of itself to actually get staff to acknowledge and go forward with setting this up. However, back to my part, we are gaining behind the scenes traction for further development and construction. Many new maps are being made, settings and weapons are being tuned, and a lot of scripting related features are in the works. Rather than almost exclusively relying on FH to get the ball rolling, everyone working on Evolved will be contributing to the v2 advertising as we move closer to completion. I myself will probably try to go about future publicity in terms of threads, gameplay, maybe a few videos, etc.
I never quite understood the concept that something COMPETITIVE would be more popular if it catered to everyone, and I despise the very thought that people think it actually works. I mean it is just absurd how some games will actually impliment RNG in one way or another or try to balance something else to cater to everyone.. I honestly think it has the opposite effect of what they seek, the bad players (who likely wouldn't play a lot anyways) have nothing to strive for and get bored. Then the top tier players just quit and go elsewhere, then when they move on the game gets less publicity all together. This strategy of catering to everyone is usually implimented into already successful franchises and it always tends to hurt them in the end. Imagine if American Football or a huge sport just changed its rules to cater, I know it is an absurd idea, but it would have the same result, bad players have nothing to work towards, and good players leave.
The best way to actually cater to all skill levels is to keep the bullshit away and make your sandbox a meritocracy.
It's come a long way since its original version, but Viva Vertical is looking good in my opinion...except for that lighting issue. Anyone feel like helping me out with that? I'm not sure what is causing it.
I'd just like to say that after the last map went into Frames-Land, I made a conscious effort to limit all piece usage in this one to the absolutely essential - and it STILL has ****ing frames, with LESS than 1000 pieces on TIDAL
