Oh well that's a waste then Personally I'd scrap the key idea and turn the books into teles that despawn after use. Have the books tele to a library in the center of the map. Would be a much cooler use of these books in a fantasy setting
well that's the benefit of playing the map sloppily. you know what routes are important traffic areas and see what shortcuts players would take if they had to avoid them.
Was grabbing some material for promo art this morning. Got a shot that reminded me how much I loved the H2A Hoplite armor
What universe is this? There's a Halo 2 Anniversary Forge contest and someone is telling me to scrap a map when it's almost finished. Making a map that revolves around a moving teleporter sounds like an annoying game of cat and mouse. A map like that would need to be terraced and have no walls, and the books would all need to teleport you back to the top of a hill. And then it needs a way to get players out of that. Doesn't really work for this map. A map with islands on the other hand...
The Book has a number of "spells" before you are teleported back to a neutral point. So it's a teleporter after you use it to influence the map. I didn't build a neutral teleporter on this design because I didn't think it was necessary, but you just gave me an art idea that would bring it back, and I might have to redesign the map again to squeeze it in.
It's not just that either. It's supposed to represent Halo 2. It needed to show some serious battle scars (on the knees particularly) and have some metallic reflectiveness to what remained of the paint job. Not sure what was going on with the green overlay on weapons either. Maybe to represent how jaded we are?
@Goat your map preview got me in the mood to make a library ~900 pieces spent on this room...I kinda feel your pain now I really need to adjust my TVs levels. This is way darker than it appeared to me originally.
What's eating all my FX budget? Not only FX right? I went from 135% to 107% and still some things won't pop up.
Weapons eat up fx budget, players do as well even though the budget does not reflect it. Which is why some fx does not appear despite the budget being just under max.
