Why don't you actualy try playing the game loser, we played like 2 short games and you said it was dumb. Same with all the key maps you play them a few times and say they suck Pros • Building extends ttk: The longer a fight is drawn out, the more opportunity there is for success/failure to stack up, leaving the most skilled player likely to win the fight • More impactful decisions: Building essentialy gives you extra shields/ health & verticle mobility, but as a concequence it reveals your location and potentialy makes you predictable. Closed box = healing, open box = defensive, ramps = push... for example. • Encourages engagements: Because of how easy it is to spot when someone is building (bright blue) it creates a kind of 'beacon' that leads to less camping and more action. If it wasn't for building players would avoid running into the open and would more likely be moving from building to building, leading to more close range interior battles which is not FN strongsuit. With building, we see players confidently pushing across empty valleys, up mountains, across lakes and rivers... Wich then comes full circle leading to players engaging more often Cons • Players can place even the weakest walls faster than the enemy player can shoot them down. This leads to panic wall and ramp spam. Idealy how i would like to see this play out is have wood materials (the most commonly used building material) be weaker, and instead of spaming players would strafe and build which would force them to make a decition quickly: Strafe to the nearest cover or hold out tell there is a cool down when he reloads? Idk i can't think of any more cons
Other con i'd say is probably control scheme for building on console. On PC it probably works out fine, but Because of how the toggling works there isn't a lot of synergy in their design, leading to a lot of fumbling through building controls, especially when trying to switch between them and shooting or trying to build fast
It kinda sounds like you just started playing the game/haven't gotten the swing of it. I'd take some time to learn how to play and then think on it. The building actually fuels the fights. Example: http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/Ascend Hyperion/video/46053905 That is the single most textbook use of the building in a fight. Much more interesting than standstill and shoot. That guy also had just as much opportunity to out build me too. Oh and lol @MultiLockOn
This video was more important to me than the prize money. There has to someone else who can do the vid other than Baconmedia. Hes never here. @Ascend Hyperion Id also like to see the rubric scores
How about some more features, and not of remakes or contest winners? Why is there so much time put between them, when there is certainly more feature-worthy content to highlight? It really feels like the staff is content with doing basically nothing until H6, and that’s ridiculous.
I’d like to see a commentary on a few maps per month showing gameplay footage. Maybe out of the community favorites. Not just the top map either, or the top 3 but even like the top 5 maybe for more exposure It would be cool to come on forgehub and see vids at the top instead of the maps thread, and I can see the map and analyze it while listening to a commentary. It’s also super useful for feedback because you see the map in action instead Purely has some cool classic maps out right now (although he didn’t and probably won’t post them) but it might be worth posting maps if they had the opportunity to be shown off in a vid with a cool commentary over it. It would be more meaningful in my opinion
I would be cool with this, if community favorite didnt have this ridiculous ‘it has to be posted this month’ rule. I stopped bothering to nominate maps because of it.
Also the fact that (no offense to anyone) I dislike a lot of mini game maps that are made. However, if I saw a vid with a commentary it could be eye opening rather than me judging it off a picture and perhaps never bookmarking it. What I’m getting at is the exposure part
In case anyone was unaware, the staff are volunteers and don't get paid. We all have busy lives but we take what little time we have available to try and keep the community alive. I agree that we might not be doing enough but with our schedules it's not easy to get content out. If any of you would like to help contribute positively to release content, let one of us know and maybe something can work out. Sorry to anyone who thinks we don't do enough to give back to this community, hopefully in the future we can make you happy.
@purelyfat after jumping down that well 100s of times i've concluded that there are no secrets or easter eggs, i hope you are happy
