Hey guys it's FM and the BB, if you have stumbled onto this thread then you are one of the lucky ones.

    Wall Colosseum Contest

    The Proposition

The whole idea of this is to use the Wall Colosseum and only up to 25 other objects (not including weapons or scenery, such as crates and barricades) You can use the land, water, etc. for effect, and don't forget imagination. You have one month to create a map for the contest. After that one month there will be a one to two week period where three select alpha forgers will get to judge all the maps and select the top #10 maps. (May vary with the number of maps sent in)

    Voting for Judges

During the one month period while everyone is off making their map, all the other people on ForgeHub get to vote on who the lucky forgers get to be to judge these maps. About one week before the accepting era is over, the voting period will end. Then we will have three judges to choose which lucky ten maps will be featured as contest winners, and which three amazing maps get awarded.

    Vote here!

    Rules

Here are the Guidelines that must be followed in order for your map to qualify into testing.

♦ You must only use Wall Colosseum and up to 25 other objects not including scenery, weapons, health packs, vehicles, or power ups. No more than 50 wall Colosseums + 25 structure objects/gadgets used.(spawning items, such as re-spawn points and kill boundries do not count!)

♦Must be forged on Forge World.

    ♦Support a competitive slayer based game-type.| 1v1 | 2v2 | 4v4 | 8v8 |

♦Have a valid link to your map.

♦Give a short description of the map including a photo.

♦Can not enter more than two maps.

♦Must follow ForgeHub's Rules. That means no modding!

If your map does not follow this critique then it will be denied until fixed.

    Rating the Maps

There will be three different categories that the judges will end up judging.

♦Originality - It is not just the same map over and over 10 ₧

    ♦Aesthetics - How impressive it looks. 10₧

♦Game-play - Does it play well, and is it fair for all players. Counts twice! 20₧

Each category will be rated 1-10 for a total maximum of 40₧.

    Prizes!

    1st. 1600 MSP

    2nd. 800 MSP

    3rd. 400 MSP

The deadline is on August 27th 2012 @ 11:59 P.M. Central Any maps submitted afterwards will be denied.

There will be more information to come!

If you have any ideas regarding making the contest better in any way, don't hesitate to comment.

May the Forge be with you!

I think there was a contest like this recently, but the results never came through. Don't you think all the maps should support a certain gametype though, to keep things fair and easy to judge. I mean, it would be difficult to compare a race map and a btb map.

I'll try to cook something up. Oh, and prize pl0x ;)

I would be willing to enter a contest like this. To me it sounds more fun with the 25 extra objects.

By 25 other objects do you mean 25 other types of objects and we can have as many of each of those as we want?

No just 25 objects, even of the same no more than 75 structure pieces is what I'm saying.

As much as I love you, ****, **** this post.

Nobody really seems to know why it failed or what went on behind the scenes. Rogue started the contest, offered the prize, and appointed three other judges. Those judges were Minister Muffin, myself, and Available Moth. He already showed his lack of foresight when he decided to have an even number of judges, trusting himself as the deciding "tie breaker bonus vote." Just BEFORE we started judging, he decided Halo wasn't worth his time anymore. He didn't post about it, or even tell us as a group. He sent ME a message telling me that he was no longer going to participate or offer the prizes he had promised, and that if I wanted to continue it, he didn't give a rat's ass, leaving me with the task of either shutting down the thread or holding out.

Just after this went down, Moth decided he'd rather play Battlefield than mess around with Halo. So it was just Muffin and myself, and neither of us really had any idea what to do in regards to picking up the pieces. We tried to convince ourselves that we could do it, and we managed to fool not only ourselves but the entire community. We tried, we really did. But the only people who seemed even remotely interested in becoming extra judges were either already entered in the contest, or were almost never available. We couldn't just make a public thread advertising that we needed another judge, because that would topple the house of cards that the whole ****ing contest had somehow become.

We spent weeks and weeks playing and replaying the maps, and I still have all the notes I took* as testament to the time and dedication we put in. But truth be told, we agreed on almost everything, likely because at the time we were in way over our heads and just wanted to, above all else, make whatever progress we could manage to scrape by.

Finally, we had to admit our failure and throw in the towel. I'm annoyed when people claim that "those guys ditched it," because if Rogue hadn't ****ed his way off into wonderland, it probably would have turned out alright. I really don't like the idea of pointing two fingers at Rogue and claiming that it was all his fault, but honestly, it was.

Even though we failed, I learned a lot about how contests really work, and with the proper resources I'm sure I could properly execute one if I ever have the desire to put something else together.

I hope you actually pull this off, man. It's always been a terrific idea.

[sub]*Pyro and Blaze's entries were at the top of the list, in case anyone still gives a ****.[/sub]

And frozenlynx decided he hated forge hub and posted a link to porn in the same color as normal text so it took a month and a half for anyone to find it.

Well just post it in this one, I'm sure that it holds up criteria and I don't think I will ever leave Halo especially saying I have been playing since Halo 2, and playing religiously.

I'm the only non-English person here but I still feel like being the grammar ****:
    Wall Coliseum. ;)
(That's the official name of the object. xD)

Either way, this contest sounds interesting. I'll try to wrap up a map for you. :)

EDIT: Never mind, I noticed it's Slayer only. :(

I love to see community contests. Even though I don't plan to participate myself, I with you the best of luck with this, such an awesome title picture has to be rewarded ;)
The only thing that bothers me, are your prizes. As far as I know, US Microsoft Points can only be redeemed in the US, UK MSPs only in the UK and so on.

    No.

I know how it's spelled but Pokemon made it Colosseum so I had to too. :(

BTW here are the definitions of both words

Coliseum - A large theater or stadium

Colosseum - The name since medieval times of the Amphitheatrum Flavium, a vast amphitheater in Rome, begun by Vespasian c.ad 75. It held 50,000 spectators, its sections connected by an elaborate network of stairs, and was the scene of various kinds of combat

Personally I like the second one better. :D

Well if you enter I can see if I can't get you something along the same lines. You can name it and I wont complain about it. As long as it is in the same price range. :)

The TCOJ 7x7 Contest was successfully finished and winners were declared. I do share your generally cynical outlook on community contests - it's hard for individuals with no support structure behind them (e.g. Forge Hub) to pull these things off. But I think we demonstrated that it's certainly not impossible. TCOJ may run another contest after H4 comes out.

You'll do it and you'll like it!

(Seriously though - I think we could cut out a lot of the work we did by simply eliminating non-contenders early through a quick vote among the judges. In retrospect it created a lot of unnecessary work for us to do detailed judging on maps that clearly weren't going to place in the top three.)
