Searching through my hard drive, I stumbled upon a folder entitled "Old Images". Intrigued, I ventured forth to unearth possible treasures, or perhaps horrors, entombed within. I came across what was a veritable graveyard of signatures from forums past, and thought I'd share them with you all, to show my humble beginnings into the world of graphics, to a point when I forgot all about them. I actually haven't done graphical work in a long time, but I used to do more than signatures. I made a few backgrounds, but they became lost when I upgraded to a new(er) computer a long while back. There's tonnes of signatures I've done that aren't included here too, as they have all been lost to the black hole of the internets. Anyway, enjoy what comes. I'll try to put them in order from when I started as best I can and give a brief description if I feel one is necessary. The first signature I'd ever made. I thought the inclusion of the letters in the background was pretty clever back then. Now I realise it's pretty dull . Still, gotta start somewhere. My first dip into image manipulation/editing. For obvious reason, I didn't use this sig for very long. And yes, that was me, a very long time ago, back when I had long hair. The image I used was very low res, too, as I only had a tiny little web cam to take pics with. It also started my obsession with including 'catchlines' in my sigs, which occur a lot in later images. Both a bit hard to look at, the PC I made them on must have had different (read: not good) contrast compared to my new PC. I liked to make images from scratch back then, but couldn't come up with decent ideas. These are what came out. :\ Also, this is when I found the behind light or whatever it's called filter in Paint Shop Pro, which you'll notice I use a lot in images afterward. I actually like this one. Reminds me of a sort of infected cell, or possibly antigens in a virus or something. One of my better early images. Yeh, I had an obsession with the Matrix back then. Still a great movie, but I think I watched it way too much as a youngling. Second one isn't so bad, I suppose. Not sure what to think about this one. It looks ok I guess, but I'll leave ultimate opinions up to viewers. I like to oozy parts. Can't even remember how I managed to do this one. That is my eye, but I manipulated the **** out of it. Anyone got any ideas? Lol, I like this one. Was a sig I did for another person, who asked me to do her a Buffy style sig. She fell in love with it instantly. If you look up Buffy opening credits on Youtube, you'll see where I got inspiration from for this one. Another sort of virus-y looking sig, must have had a weird train of thought back then. Not too bad, lol @ Slipknot font, though. Moar image manipulation. That's actually three images of myself in different poses, combined into one. One of my friends described it as "sexy", but now that I look at it again, it seems kind of dull... This ones cool. The blade-looking things on the left side is actually an extreme close up of a fractal, then coloured and shadowed. I still really like this one, probably could have done without the flare, however. The last one I could find, probably the best I did back then. More virus-like imageness, a bit grim if you ask me. Perhaps I was a depressed youth. ;P So yeh, that's my old-school portfolio, but it's by no means my complete image backlog. If I ever find more I'll post them here again to show you guys, or to make you laugh. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed them, for better or for worse. Discuss, if you please.
"I carnt speel." I agree, you can't spell. Also, I quite like that second to last one. I'm not sure what else to say.
You were an emo bastard, weren't you? Chakra is the only decent one. As with most budding graphic artists, your main problem was font selection and borders to a lesser extent.
It seems like you favored cheesy effects They do look strange and a lot of them look banner-esque. Nice to see them and thanks for sharing Xun. Do you have newer ones? It would be cool to see those as well
Emo bastard? Hells no. I was a metal nerd . The borders weren't fantastic, but I preferred simplicity over something too elaborate. Fonts weren't great but I was young, so the decisions weren't particularly well made, either. Like I said, I was a youngin', so I didn't know the difference between a cheesy effect and something that I thought looked awesome. I agree that they are a bit banner-y, but the line between sigs and banners is getting blurrier these days. Unfortunately I don't have any of the newer ones that I know of. They could be around on some random CD somewhere, but I have so many that it would take days to find anything. Like I said, if I find anything else (that isn't too embarrassing) I'll update the OP. Apart from coming here, I haven't been on a forum in years, or had much of an inkling to do anything graphical for a while as I've been busy with being growed-up. I would like to find those backgrounds I did, and I did some various banners for some friends websites, too. Ahh, nostalgia... Neither am I . Thanks for the comments.
