This map isn't anywhere near complete yet, but I wanted to make a preview post anyway. To start things off, Valdez is a map set in an out-of-commission pipeline hub that was deactivated due to the constant earthquakes and lack of sheer dangerousness of the area surrounding it. It was recently reactivated during the Covenant's invasion of whatever planet it's on for reasons I haven't thought of yet. A small squad of Elites have taken over the facility and plan to deactivate it while a small squad of Spartans are about to launch a counter attack, etc. Basically, it's my excuse at trying to make a map for a 4v4 Invasion game mode that can also play Bro Slayer. Anyway, I still need to think of how I want to set up objectives, backfield spawns, weapon spawns, and the like but the geometry is currently ready for testing, further tweaks and reconstruction. The map takes up about 90% of Alaska and can definitely play 6v6 Bro Slayer no question, but 6v6 Invasion is way too much due to how the objectives condense the action. The objectives I plan on using for Invasion is Territories only because they seem like they'll be the most balanced for 4v4 Invasion. The map will not support Invasion Slayer because I'm 99% sure you can't turn off vehicles in drop zones with Invasion Slayer and this map is definitely not vehicle friendly. Anyway, thoughts? Ideas on how to improve what I got so far? Opinions on 4v4 Invasion as a gametype in general?
Inspired by the Battlefield map? Anyways, looks cool. I like maps that are actually sposed to be something.
Just in name. I've wanted to make a pipeline themed map for a while and what better place to put it then in Alaska and calling it Valdez, amirite?
