I've been working on a basic 8-12 player map using the Unreal Development Kit for Unreal Tournament 3 for the past month or so and felt a map preview was in order. The map was originally designed for 1 flag CTF before I realized I didn't know how to make that work in UT3, so it was adapted for regular 2 flag (vCTF.) vCTF-Dubrovnik was inspired by the Croatian city of Dubrovnik, primarily the large port near the right side. The purpose of the project was to get more familiar with UDK and to make a playable multiplayer map with a theme that played at least relatively well with bots. Overall gameplay is marginal but for my first map in a game I was unfamiliar with I think I did a decent job. Weapon layout: • 1 neutral Rocket Launcher • 1 neutral Armor Pickup • 1 neutral Shock Rifle (ammo) • 2 Link Guns • Ammo crates in bases with Shock Rifles and Link Guns • Health Pickup in each base Pictures: (Blue Base) A beautiful Sunset... All textures and Models were from the UDK Content Browser and not of my own design, as I have no modeling program or Photoshop skills at this time. Currently I don't know how to set it up for download, but I have the file if anyone want to see it/ play. Leave your thoughts below.
Ooooh. Pretty. I have no idea how to judge this. I like it though. And I can make some texture for you, if you'd like.
It's definitely a simple layout, but that's to be expected. It looks like you've got a handle on the editor, though. I wish the textures weren't so repetitive, but that'll change with experience and the ability to create your own textures. Actually, I can make stuff for you in photoshop if you want. Looks good overall though, keep at it.
You know, if you like modeling maps in the Unreal Engine, you can download a program that let's you create your own games (and subsequently levels, and multiplayer maps) with the engine they've used for these games. There are some stipulations if you decide to market the game, like a percentage to be paid, but other than that it's a very reliable and easy to understand engine... for free. You might want to take a shot at that.
pretty cool!! but yea, those textures are gross. what format is the file? can you export to .OBJ also check out cgtextures.com
