Ok, after a bunch of remakes and classics, here is my first original UNSC ship design on Reach. It is a UNSC military transport retrofitted with artillery guns and a MAC cannon, similair in style to the AC130 Spectre gunship. From the back: and underneath: the ship has 5 levels, starting with the bridge: hangar: sick bay: captains quarters: Briefing room: Vehicle deck: Out you get: The main deck is the gun deck, which has two artillery cannons: And the mac cannon, with selectable ammunition: rapid fire: Just aesthetic, if you want to make it playable go ahead. I aimed the cannons at the cave entrance, there are a few covie vehicles for target practice. There is over $1000 left in the budget.
wow, this looks great, i love all parts of it. although even if it is aesthetic, i dont think that there should be two machine guns so close to the artillary. and I see you have had experience about UNSC maps, they all rock. great job
Looks like it'll be really fun when someone makes it playable. Its always bothered me that the MAC cannons of forgeships aren't actually shooting at anything.
I've seen quite a few great UNSC Ships and some bad ones. This looks like one of the best I've seen. I especially like the design. A lot of ships have a boxy design. Yours stands out in several ways. Great job
if you curved the edges a bit more and left the mechanics as they are you will have one badass ship. for what you have so far i'm gonna have to give this 7/10.
This ship looks Epic and great but the one thing is around the artillery seems kind of rough you should try to round out the edges and it will be perfect!
That looks quite a nice ship I like how you've made it curved and didnt go with all flat bits! makes a nice change i dont usually like how people use tanks as ships guns ect, but yours looks quite good
I really like the artillery cannon -very clever touch. You could turn this into an invasion map by having a small base on the ground with aircraft, where the people are required to land on the ship and board. Overall very nice looking and creative.
Awesome ship and the way you incorporated the guns. Oh, yeah the mac cannon it super fun to use with friends.
Very nice looking indeed. I agree with the critique on the mounted guns next to the artillery... It would be better to take one or even both of them away and feature them elsewhere on the ship (if at all possible). Also, you might better incorporate the fire power of the Scorpion by turning it around (if at all possible) because it is time consuming to get into a Scorpion and turn the turret 180 degrees. Also, the Scorpion turned around would allow for functional use of the machine gun already on the Scorpion. Nice job creating such a nice ship with 1000 left over.
Pretty cool, but just 1 question- why is it called SPOOKY gunship? I don't see any thing spooky about it.
Official Review Hub Review UNSC Spooky Gunship Aesthetics For most Aesthetic maps, the overall concept is most easily seen from afar. This is especially true for the UNSC Gunships which so many forgers create. The exterior of the UNSC Spooky Gunship may not live up to the grandiose design of other ships, but its smooth shape certainly gives it a unique form. In fact, the construct looks more like a gigantic submarine rather than a military war engine. As a side effect, the more simplistic exterior allows for the more creative interior. The UNSC Spooky Gunship boasts arguably the most impressive interior over the other gunships. It contains several facilities, such a Bridge, a Hangar, a Sick Bay and the Captain’s Quarters. The Sick Bay works particularly well. Its design emulates the fantasies of science fiction media by having what looks like a scanning device encircling the bench. Next to this area is a series of rooms which function as a sleeping and eating areas, as well as giving the players a view of the MAC Cannon. The artillery cannons on the side of the ship function beautifully and even had targets at which a player could shoot. An armada of Covenant vehicles stood as cannon fodder on a beach as targets, while players could man the scorpions and blow them up. The UNSC Spooky Gunship’s “MAC Cannon” at the front was one of the best among the other gunships. It actually had soccer balls as ammunition for the player to shoot, which helped the overall effect of a firing gun as opposed to a small explosion caused by a few fusion coils and mines. Some areas within the ship’s main area mar the beauty of the map’s atmosphere. Although the circular stairs did well to act as a smooth exterior, on the inside they looked odd as ceilings and walls. The shape of the small, circular ramps granted players access to small nooks and crannies which were obviously not meant to be accessed. Additionally, there were several areas where a player could look out at the surrounding area through cracks in the walls, due to pieces being inconsistently placed. While the main area didn't look too pretty, everywhere looks absolutely wonderful. The creator forsook the blandness of flat, linear areas and created a more intricate and artistic design for the walkways around the ship, particularly around the MAC Cannon entrance. 13/20 Originality With all of the other Gunships out there, this is among the few which were actually constructed from the creator’s mind, not from a picture. That being said, there were some aspects of the UNSC Spooky Gunship which were obviously taken from other, but similar gunships. As for the MAC Cannon and artillery, they have a similar case. While the idea of artillery cannons is not entirely new, the immobilization of the Scorpions and the isolation of their guns was certainly unique. The idea of making a gunship is not an original concept, but the specific designs within it definitely were. Overall, the idea of creating a UNSC gunship in Forge World is not at all a new one. Many times it has been done, so now it’s just down to how the specifics are carried out. In that area, such specifics work well. It is perhaps the small nuances of the ship’s creation that give the originality credit. There is no specific aspect, but instead the general style, which works so well. It comes down to those pieces which were used to make up the walls, ceilings, floors and everything in between. 3/5 [floatleft] Aesthetics Originality[/floatleft] 13/20 3/5 [floatleft]Average Score[/floatleft]6/10 The UNSC Spooky Gunship lives up to the phrase, “True beauty is on the inside.” by having a wonderful interior, even if the outside isn’t as extravagant as would be expected by such an immense spaceship. The average score is definitely below this map’s true value, raising the final score by a small amount. Understanding the Review Hub's Ratings
Wow, that is awesome. I really really like the artillery cannon ideas by incorportating the scorpions, i can see that idea being as popular as drop pods in some upcoming ships from the community. The ship is quite nice on the outside, deliberately simplistic, smooth and streamlined. Is it just me who is reminded of TIE fighters from star wars when the look at the back fins? Fantastic.
wow, i really like your design, it looks aerodynamic... and i like your idea of the artillery (as hidden tanks), but there is unused potential. with your permission i'll try to transform this map a little and tweak it, so that it works for invasion gametype. allright ? [br][/br]Edited by merge: after one week i have modified your ship. for my taste it looks more unsc now. further ive created spawn points, weapons and vehicles, so its now acceptable for some team slayering, but its not seriously balanced. heres the link: UNSC Gunship Venezia
