    Unavowed is a medium sized map that has me forging outside my comfort zone.


    This map is my first map that:

    is asymmetrical
    is enclosed
    uses no natural objects
    plays split screen without causing seizures



    Being that this is my first asymmetrical map, I'm going to have to spend the time to make sure spawns and weapon placement is fair, but I'm sure I'll figure it out.

    I know the video is jittery, but I suck at doing fly throughs. For some reason I find it harder than playing the actual game. I do only have one arm, but I'm not making excuses.

    It took a little while for the pictures to load up for my computer for some reason. Oh well.

    Anyway, back on topic.

    It's really hard for me to get a full picture of the you've made here, prior that I have no real sense of which is left or right. A top down veiw would be appreciated. But besides that it honestly looks like a highly superb map in terms of athestics, especially the little shandalier at the top.

    The map seems to take advantage of all the AAs, with Active Camo and Jetpack at the top of the list of course. Of which is a good thing in my opinnion, having variances in gameplay will put you on par with some the big maps out on
    Forgehub right now. But I can make out three Powuh Weapons at the moment, of which is the following.

    1.Energy Sword
    2.Shotgun
    3.Grenade Launcher (I think)

    If there are any more or less, let us know.

    Otherwise, it seems like a very promising map with a few spikes of originality popping up here and there. If this map is ever realeased, I'd liked to get a few games going on this map with my family some day.

    Yeah, sorry about the pictures. There's 27 of them, a little excessive. I will try to get a better picture of the layout, but that will be hard in the spots that are 2 floors. I will see what I can do though.

    As for the power weapons, right now there are the 3 you mentioned plus the concussion rifle. It is hard to see. It is in the left corner of the 14th picture.

    This being my first asymmetrical map, I'm kind of learning as I go. Hopefully I can make it balanced for both teams. The spawning will be the hardest part.

    I'll add an aerial shot tomorrow to help with direction and go from there. I anticipate this map being finished fairly soon.

    There is something about this map that seems so fresh and eye-pleasing. Maybe it's the color scheme, or maybe the special aesthetics that I can so clearly see you worked hard on.

    This map looks fantastic, and if I had my xbox, I would love to see it and/or test it.

    Keep up the good forging.

    Thank you for the compliments. They mean a lot coming from you. I've come a long way since my first map and the only way to get better is to keep forging. At one point I was close to quitting forging because I was so pissed how you seemed to be making great maps with such ease and so quickly. While you really can't see the layout too well from my pictures, I am glad what you can see meets your approval. When you do have an xbox, I would love to show it to you.

    This looks amazing anthrax. A very good forge indeed. If you ever need testers, I'd be glad to participate to give you some solid feedback. Unfortunately, until I play it I can only voice opinion on aesthetics, which are currently way above par ;)

    It would be great to get this tested. It is going to be a couple of days at least for me to add spawns though. I'm kind of scratching my head right now trying to place team starting spawns that are fair for both teams. Being that I've never made an asymmetrical map before, I need to spend the time to get it right.

    I tried to take an aerial shot to help with understanding the layout, but I just couldn't do it. I built this map up pretty high, so I can't get high enough to see the whole map. Also a lot of pieces stick through the top of the roof and are blocking the view. I tried deleting them, but then walls are missing and the layout isn't any easier to follow. So, when I get a chance I will make a walk through video.

    It's cool man, a walkthrough video would actually be best for a map like this anyway.
    But weither I can understand the layout or not, it still looks like a great map to play on and I really look forward to trying it out for myself someday.

    as good as this looks, it also looks like a FR Lag ****,

    I would love to play test this with you because as good as it looks I hope it performs just as well. Just looking at the pics though, I see several of the framerate no no pieces as well as alot of objects in tight areas. Thats not a given all the way but its usually not good news. Please feel free to invite me to games, my GT is the same as my name, all lowercase.

    Would you kind enough to fill me in on what pieces are frame rate no no pieces? It would be great if you could play test when I'm done. Currently though, I'm kind of stuck with trying to place fair starting spawns. As soon as my render minutes go through, I will upload a video and hopefully someone has spawn suggestions. Not sure if the map is able to be balanced or not based on the layout.

    Mainly, its items with glass and lights on them, like corner bridges and bridge large and extra large. Lighting reflecting on glass is a major cause of framerate lag. Its possible to have lighting if used properly but I think the game engine strains more when trying to render lights and it works double on lights reflecting on glass. Plus, using alot of items in small areas causes FR lag because of the excess object density. I have gone through so many changes in maps of mine to get rid of FR lag and its quite dissappointing to lose some of the structures I had but hey, thank Bungie for that.

    That depends on whether you can physically see the pieces though. I recently found forging with Psychoduck that if you hide say 3 pieces behind 1 piece, you'll reduce the framerate lag. So, if areas are laggy, restricting the line of sight to those areas will reduce the framerate issues.

    Also, Anthrax, if you need any help with spawning shoot me a message on xbl. I'm not amazing, but I can offer some advice and tell you about deciding factors which spawn systems operate on.
