Well, my craptacular suck-for-mic finally broke down on me. Leaving me with $40 to spend on a new one. I wouldn't like to spend more then $30, and used is fine.

So, what do you guys reccomend?
(What other xbox accessories do you guys reccomend also [I have a play and charge])

Help meh, I don't like playing XBL without a mic.

This probably costs more than the $30 you want to spend. I'm planning on buying the messenger kit with a keyboard and headset soon. I don't have a mic and typing with the controller annoys me.

you know you can just plug in a USB keyboard...

can't play games with it, but you can navigate the Xbox guide and dashboard and use it to type messages really quick.

when you press the windows key, it opens up the xbox guide

I got the messenger kit, much more convenient then a keyboard... =]
And you get a headset with it so yeah =]

Though I also got myself a really good headset so I can hear people properly. It's really loud =P
    [IMG]

I also got myself a camera, though it's not really necessary it's fun to use =P
(Will be even more fun with the next Dashboard update)

And finally something i think every single Xbox360 should have!

I have had like eight xbox mics, and two turtle beach mic/headsets, I've also used icemats (IMO the best headset out there) and they've all broke, I'm not rough with my headsets, but they are cheaply made (the xbox ones anyway) what I do is just drop ten bucks to get a used xbox one at EB games it doesn't happen that often and I dont need a professional grade one till I go pro, I really don;t see the point of dropping 60 bucks on a headset that you will just use to play with kids that either a: mic spam or b: don't have mics, I rarely get matched up with someone in tslayer that just wants to call postitions.

    Are you literally retarded?

RRoD is caused by over heating the 360...
I don't know what else to say... You want RRoD, don't use cooling systems. You don't want RRoD, use something to cool your 360. I have the cooling stand plus a small fan behind it.
It cost a decent amount of money, I won't take any chances...

I use the wired mics, and I've had probably 2 break on me. I use the broken ones if it's just the part the hugs your head. If I can't hear out of it, or if the mic part is broken, I get a new one. I have two headsets at all times though. I also should probably get the cooling fan because of the fact that I've had the RRoD for overheating recently, and my Xbox is in a confined area, it would be a smart move.

Alright. So lemme get this straight, you put the lime in the coconut...

So, everyone likes the wired ones because even if they brake their good for a cheap replacement?

I don't think I'd need the chatting thing or the xbox vision things.

I don't need a cooling fan, I have an elite and it can't actually get RRoD

And, uhh, why would this go into the spam board? The talking is pretty civil on an okay subject.

wait elites cant get the RRoD? could you link me to like a topic on like microsoft.com that says that? its nto that I dont belive you, its that I don't belive thats possible, there are only a couple of things different between the regular system and the elite, and improved vents to the best of my knowledge weren't included

I prefer the wired ones for one simple reason: They don't need to be charged up before they can be adequately used. Wireless mikes, in my experience, have a notoriously short battery life. Not good at all for long stretches of gaming. Plus, the wireless mikes just seem awkward to wear.

I have to agree with JDoerr, we play Halo 3 together as a Competitive clan and we have always used the best of the best hardware. Turtle beach headsets where good while they lasted, but then about 3 or 4 months later they just broke, the mic worked fine but the sound was **** or didn’t work. I myself use Icemats, which are good but are not xbox made. So I just use one of the ones with the one headphone and put it on top of my icemats.
