TURBINE Author: Baz Howard TURBINE Map Description: Large, circular sky station, so circular....no wait, don't amble away with resigned boredom... There are 3 main levels. Base points are positioned as if around a compass... North. East, South, West with sub-bases placed between at NE, SE, SW etc. I wanted all Initial base spawns to be in relative proximity of each other- to allow for Red vs Blue Slayer, Classic Halo set ups and 16-Player Multiteam games. I planned suitable hugeness for some good sniper action, whilst providing enough areas of cover to prevent sniper supremacy! Each main base is situated on the upper level and houses 2 Mongeese, a sniper rifle and standard arms. The visual inspiration came by using the Sea Stack rock, repeated, to create an ammonite style for the middle floor / mezzanine. All four sub-bases (for teams Pink, Yellow, Brown & Purple..) are on this level. Each of which boasts med's and standard arms. Further around this floor there are also two rocket launchers just for good measure. Keep bouncing around that ring and you're sure to find them. I also used rocks to build a 'Keep' type structure at the heart of the map- to secure defensive craft that can be claimed by any team (2 Ghosts; 1 Falcon). This is entered thru' a centrally placed teleporter on the lowest floor, and exited via shielded apertures above and below. You can teleport to the lowest level from any of the main bases, but its just as easy to drop down there with a little care and caution! More weapons can be found on its outer 'blades'. Don't mock them...they're shelving a couple of sweeet looking sky rides.... well, Banshees The aim was to create a map that provided plenty of air space for Banshees & Falcons to dogfight; with large sweeping, circular platforms below- designed for top gear speeds on a mongoose. But as usual, it just got ridiculous. Please let me know if you have ideas for any objective gametypes you envisage working well for this map.
It looks nice but i pray there is no sniper or mid ranged weapons because of a lack of cover on the outer rim.
This looks like it would be a good race map, but instead of just putting them in order, It would be cool to spawn them randomly, so lots of turning and racing would ensue.
