    Description:

    Troika is the long awaited map from the makers of Cyclopean. This map was actually finished back in May, but because of a short absence from the halo community, I was not able to post it. So everyone who helped test this, (pretty much everyone at GoO) has had to wait 2 months for this map to come out. Sorry guys. :p

    Troika is an asymmetric map much like Cyclopean. In fact, it's almost a 'Cyclopean 2' with how many similarities and improvements there are.
    It has many of the same elements that made Cyclopean successful; multiple paths between areas, a mix of small/enclosed and large/open spaces, unique weapon selection, and aesthetics.

    The difference this time, is that we wanted to make a map better suited for more players. That meant a bigger map with more room to fight in, so we had to use the budget glitch this time. We also wanted to keep it simple, which is why there are only three main areas.

    Now, one of the main, noticeable features of this map is the fishtank. In one of the rooms there was this huge blank wall, that looked horribly boring. I challenged myself to make it interesting, and do something unique with aesthetics that I haven't seen before. That, is how the fishtank idea was born. It doesn't work perfectly, some fish do die, but if you wait awhile, they will be replaced. (respawned) Which actually, demonstrates the cycle of life. Birth - Life - Death. So I guess it does work perfectly. :p

    This map has been tested many times, and from those tests I was able to make lots of great gameplay tweaks. The layout of the map promotes constant movement, and the geometry is great for bouncing 'nades and taking cover. There are a few teleporters on the map to increase player traffic and concentrate battles on the whole map, rather than just a few sections of the map. Now, I hate teleporters, for a number of reasons, but I don't feel that these are all that bad. I did my best to eliminate camping, but where there's a teleporter, there's a camping opportunity. So while it exists, I did my best to ensure that it would not happen often.

    I forgot to mention that I placed 2 teleporter nodes outside the map. Should anyone get outside of the map, (highly unlikely) then they will be rewarded by having the pleasure of 'swimming with the fishes' as G043R would say.
    In other words: Break the map, and you will be stuck inside the fishtank for the rest of the game with no way of killing yourself. :D

    This has to be the best map on forgehub!!!!!!!!!! should be featured....anyway nice geo-merging, interlocking, and ladder

    WOW!!! this is A++ is what it gets! the interlocking and geo-merging are perfict! plus the ladder adds to more forging teqnuiecs! the map looks astonding! i would expect it though coming from a ghoust of onyx. great job! this reminds me of terminal for some reasone. well the ladder is awesome.i don't belive i've seen that in many maps! great job Neverless Wonder and i can't wait for more map from u!

    I remember seeing this when it was released on Bnet, there's so many little niches and secret paths, is the flamethrower possible to get to? What really makes it special though, is the use of fence boxes and walls.

    Woah this map looks crazy and strangley reminds me of End of the Line and I dont know why. I must download to see more.

    This map, when I played it days ago, pretty much sucked. Now I see an entirely new depth to the map. I didn't know about the ladder, the teleporters, or any of that stuff. I should pay way more attention! Oh, and the fish SWIM in the fishtank. Neat, huh? Awesome map, 5/5. Already downloaded!

    Honest to God, when I saw the fishtank, I had one of the biggest Forge-gasms of my life. You guys should check it out. The ladder is a nice touch, too. I didn't know about it until I saw someone go up it (via the hidden vertical mancannon).

    Now Neverless, since I've never done a Forge-through on this map, only exciting custom games, this has a secret passageway, right? Or was that just a different version?

    Yay, its finally up and potsted! We got a sneak peek of this map in Vicious Vice's (and LightsOut's) TGIF party. It was amazing then and its amazing now. I love the ladder and the fish tank is just....epic. I DL the map right after the TGIF ended and stared at the fish tank for about 5 minutes. The little cone "fish" is just a genious idea. Its so simple but just so awesome. The gameplay on this map is great, too. 6/5 and a DL from me (already done). Again, awesome map guys!

    been a while since i've seen a map by you neverless, Cyclopean was an Epic win and this looks like one too. the last pic surprisingly really amazed me, it just looks really awesome for some reason... but im really diggin this layout. everything looks great, the stair structure, the geomerging, and the fisk tank is filled with epic win sauce. DLing now. I'll come back with gameplay feedback later.

    Thanks guys, glad you like it. And yes, the 'fish' do swim around in the tank. It's great to look at. Did you guys like the 'plants' I put in there for the fish to swim around in?

    The flamethrower: It's a secret weapon, and is placed in a very difficult to get to position on the map. Even if you've gotten pretty good at getting there through practice, you may still fall or get killed.
    I have it there just for fun, and I don't believe it to be too game changing of a weapon to be considered bad. I don't like secret weapons, but this is a little different. You can find where it is by taking a forgethrough. After that, it takes practice and skill.

    Furious: The secret passageway you're thinking of, is only in the Troika Manor version, which was specifically made for Clue. I felt it was too gimmicky and not well suited for slayer or other competitive gametypes.

    Ahhh. I agree, but it's a cool little feature nonetheless. So hit me up with some more info. Can I play 1 Flag here? What about Territories, KotH? Maybe we can play some of this in the Wraith comeback session. I might not be able to make the actual session, but I'll be online that afternoon and it would be nice to play some games on Troika.

    When I first saw the map I came. I love this map it feels like Cyclopean but then it doesn't. It's nice to see some fresh new maps hitting the pipeline that is the Comp section. I hope that this map shines through the crap to show the true gem that it is.

    I've made a ladder before, so the fish tank and the vertical stairs surprised me.
    The one problem I have with this map is that a lot of stuff is hidden, and hard to find, it took me 10 minutes, solo, to figure out how to get to the damn fuel rod cannon, after which I shortly escaped the map through use of a deployable cover.

    Finally the world can has Troika! Its about damn time lol. Like Furious said, the fishtank is definitely a MAJOR forgasm. I had to change my armor like right after i saw it. You should add a link to Troika Manor as well, Neverless. Or is that still kinda in the works? Ready to wear the maroon, or what? lol

    Thanks. This map is great. And the manor variant is perhaps the perfect place for a huge game of clue. This is what I like to think my maps would end up like if I ever took the time to fully plan them out before starting the build. You and Bisquit are definitely two of the best.

    looks good, the stairs is a cool feature and the overall map looks nicely interlocked and geomerged, a cool layout and very detailed, gd job
