Hmm, i'm just wondering. I've always wondered really, can you use more than one flag in CTF for each team? Because basically, in CTF, you could use flags for aestethic purposes. Like marking Castle tops with the teams flags.. or draping them off the sides of buildings... as long as they arent collectable.. But i was thinking more along the lines of being able to choose 3 flags to steal. Making like a 6 mini base map, with each base yielding one flag. With one score point in the central base for their team. Each team then has to defend all 3 of their flags. Is it also possible to make it so that once a flag has been captured from that spawn point.. that it doesnt go back?
I don't think so to either of those. BUt im no CTF expert. that would make for some kool gametypes though.
aye thats what i was thinking... ive never bothered spawning two flag spawns.. but to be honest.. i dont see why someone cant. You have two on the map at default.. and both can be signed to attackers/defenders i just dont know whether the two flags would spawn.. or whether it would just create an empty spawn
Flags only spawn for the teams being played in the game. I recall that you can only have up to two teams in CTF and Assault. You can however, place multiple flags or capture points for a single team. Using these for asthetics would be bad because each dropped flag shows its location with a marker, but a gametype where each team has multiple bombs flags and objectives can be quite interesting. I have seen this used for a gametype similar to territories where the attackers are given a bomb, with the objective of destroying as many as possible of the enemy bases.
Thanks Pyro.. I know CTF only uses Attack/defend. But its whether or not the spawn points will actually spawn multiple flags for each team. I think it would only spawn one... but ill have to test it.. If ive got anything to report after doing so, ill let u guys know.
I'm almost positive you can only have one flag per team, which means a minimum of two flags total because CTF is a two-sided game. You can, however, use bombs as flags. But instead of spawning the bomb in your own base, spawn it in the enemy's base. Then you go to their base, pick up their bomb (as if it were a flag) and plant it wherever you can. That would let you do your two-sided "three-flag defense" map you mentioned, since you can spawn more than two bombs.
I was thinking something similar to what I play in PE class, Capture the Flag. But of course modified for Halo 3. Each team can have a set of x number of flags, instead of the traditional "only 1".
I believe that only one flag will spawn for each team, however I will test this later today to make sure. I am positive however that multiple return points can be placed and be active in ctf and assualt.
I ran some tests.. it appears you can place as many dedicated flag spawns as you like.. theres only ever allowed to be 2 flags maximum at any one point... However, think of the flag as a player, and the spawn sites as respawn points.. Once the flag is captured (killed) it spawns (respawns) randomly.. it doesnt always respawn on the same flag point.. It doesnt always return to the same point either.... any ideas for a new gametype?
This isnt about having more than 2 teams.. this is about having more than 2 flags... it seems a little silly you can have 20 spawns but only ever 2 flags...
Skulls seem like a better idea. Look into what you can do with that style of game type. You can have more than 2 teams as well more then 3 balls I think.... let me load up halo and do a look see's for you. PLease remain calm ...
Thats already a gametype lol.. its called 3 ball Ive sorta dreamt up another gametype anyway.. SWAT and Destroy! Kinda stolen from Modern Warfares search and destroy... but i think it'll be better as halo. + SWAT gets a bit boring these days.. a new gametype besides SWAT 2 flag and ShWATguns would make it a little more interesting.
I had an idea for a flag map. Its one flag and the attacking team spawns with the deffenders flag, and they have to fight the defenders to plant it in the defenders base. Like one bomb really cept you can plant as many times as you want in a round ;p
Mmmm thats only 1 directional though.. one bomb is harder than just one directional because you have to hold the spot once armed so dissarms dont occur..
