So guys, I was messing around today with trait zones. Under those, there are several options for different traits. I initially thought that those wouldn't apply in vehicles, but some of them do. So far, the weapon damage seems to be one of the few that applies while in a vehicle. The appearance can also be edited, like as far as the visual effect and such. You can't edit the speed/boost of the vehicle (No podracing ) but the damage was what I was really interesting in. You can make the turrets pretty powerful, which means that shade turrets could actually be legit. Hope that you guys might be able to make use of it. I don't have Gold permanently, but I still wanted to share this with everyone.
The shade turret idea is interesting. Do you know if the zone has to only be around the shade turret to increase the damage, or if it has to also be where the projectile hits the player? If its the first that would be great for turrets I think. I will probably actually use this on a map of mine right now if the trait zone can be put just around the turret. I still think I'm going to stick with human turrets or auto-turrets though. I'm still undecided if I want to use auto-turrets or regular turrets. And that brings up the question, does it effect auto-turrets?
I am assuming it would go around the Shade Turret as he mentioned it was changing the damage of the vehicle. Otherwise it would be damage resistance or health of the other players.
My thinking was the projectile might lose its extra damage once it leaves the trait zone, but I doubt it. I would think if its fired inside the trait zone it will still have the damage boost travelling outside the zone too. Its not so much about the players, at least what I'm saying. It could be shooting a fusion coil or a wall too. I'm wondering if the projectile loses its damage boost if it leaves the trait zone. Again, I would doubt that it does.
No, it does not "lose" damage after leaving the zone. When you use it, you may want to keep the size of the zone as small as possible. That will help with preventing cheating. I hope that you can make good use of the Trait Zone trick, eating lunch!
i found you can make players exit vehicles by placing a trait zone with the ability to enter vehicles set to none in the movement section, could make use for infection games and such
Copying this from my post in another thread: Just tested it out and can confirm that this is how it works. When Alpha changes your speed and Bravo is set to Unchanged, the result is like this: Alpha: Changed Speed Bravo: Default Both: Changed Speed Ergo, when in multiple "levels" of trait zones, they all apply, in order. Alpha traits will be overridden by Bravo unless set to unchanged, Bravo will be overridden by Charlie, etc. As an addendum, I tested a few other things that may not have seemed obvious or are unspoken: Trait Zones CAN be set to only affect one team. Trait Zones CAN be set up to affect vehicle/turret damage, and for turrets it can be placed to only affect those using the turret (with Shades, it's possible to turn out of the zone however). Trait Zones will NOT allow for instant shield regeneration, despite having a setting for it. Trait Zones will NOT allow Flood to use vehicles, but will prevent players from using them (kicks them out). Trait Zones CAN be used to give the APPEARANCE of powerups, without the effects. This will not override the Flood appearance, instead stacking with it. Trait Zones will NOT allow normal players to appear as Flood. The setting only changes the HUD.
