Okay people I’m actually an older member on a new account so DONT POST welcome to Forge hub. K so down to business. Here are some tips anyone who want to learn how to make a good all game types map. Tip#1 Step-by-step process: So if your going to build a map your going to need a sturdy method of getting to the point were it is flawless. Hers the process. Plan, Build, Test, Figure out flaws, REPEAT (do the REPEAT process as many times as needed until flawless). REPEAT=Upgrade, Test, Figure out Flaws Tip#2 Interlocking and geomerging: With these abilities you can make new structures or clean up a map for nicer looking and better game play. Featured map have had always are interlocked or geomerged since these features have been found. To much of them and cause serious lag so don't do the whole map interlocked. Tip#3 Cluttered Maps: DO NOT CLUTTER weapons across the map. DO NOT PLACE STASHES unless the map is purposely designed for infection. Cluttering or making stashes ruins maps. Tip#4 Spawning: Make sure you don't spawn against a wall with no where to go. Putting a spawn against a wall is okay. If theirs no where to go when you spawn that's bad. Also make sure if some ones camping a spawn you'll spawn somewhere else. I will add a post later on advanced spawning. Tip#5 Camping: Try to make at least 2 ways into a room so a person can't camp. If you don't want to make 2 ways into somewhere make it possible to shoot into a room but not enter. Tip#6 Game types: A good map is made for all game types. it can specialize in a certain game type but if you do this make it for a generic game style like neutral game types or Attack&Defend. In Attack&Defend game types make ( if not symmetrical) the defenders have a harder to infiltrate structure while attackers have more firepower. In Neutral game types make the neutral object in the middle of the map. Tip#7 Weapons, Equipment and power ups on a map: Every map that is Evan to both sides should have limits to 3 power weapons, 4 equipment pieces, and power ups kind of depend on a map. A good map will have a central power weapon and 1 between the center and a base or 1 in the base. equipment should be spread out around the map away from power weapons. Also if their are some places that are difficult to reach you can up the power weapons to 5 but make sure you show them in your post. Tip#8 Teleporters, Man cannons, and gravlifts: All of them shouldn't be used to get from one side to the opposite side but should be used to get to a point fast. That point shouldn't be any more than halfway across the map. Thats all for now check up later for more tips
Wow! That is some great information. I am glad that you made this purely for the benefit of the community. On tip#8 you made a very good point about the man cannons and gravlifts. About how you shouldn't use them to get from one side ot the opposite side.
good job on this, and i agree it is a great help, but why make a new account? proxies are against the rules you know. But again, nice job, and i even will be remembering things from this as i have just started making a map tonight
wow that is really helpful. not that i need this but every new member to forgehub should be given a link to this so they dont post really bad maps.
