Ascend Hyperion submitted a new map: Threshold - 2v2 map with a two-phase layout set near the entrance of a Forerunner Shield World Read more about this map...
This is the second most unique idea for a core map in Halo. If I ever get to play this map, I'll give my thoughts.
So you named it after the gas giant from H1, but it's on a different place altogether? Ok. I wonder if you were inspired by stuff like Pokémon Stadium or Castle Siege.
I've toyed around in my head with having two completely different playspaces in one map, but nothing ever came of it. This looks super cool, definitely want to give it a shot.
hmmmmm, dynamic layouts and map elements to direct play.... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... :^) jokes aside, I really appreciate the concept, and am excited to see what you've done with it!
Ex and I ran around this with a couple of randoms and we enjoyed the unique mechanic. I like the first half, but the later half had some small issues. I kept falling off the map at the crevice. Could you make that lower out-of-bounds less playable-looking? The other thing is that it was ring-around-the-spartan-charge too. Maybe make the later part have one or more raised, rounded rock platforms rather than straight up columns? Consider opening it up just a little. One of the randoms suggested adding more weapons to the map too. The embedded Forerunner stuff was very campaign-like. Great job!
+1^... yeah, the random said "is this a devmap?" I responded, "No, but I'll tell him you said that". There, I kept a promise Also, I echo the need to cure the several mini-donuts that is the latter section. Also, maybe give us more time in the first section? It seems very quick (not half, is it?) There might be a possibility of a scripting trick making the game equate what half of the time should be.. I haven't looked into that much, though. At any rate, a little more time in the first section would also cure some of the shortcomings of the 2nd. Actually the first might have issues too, but we didn't spend as much time there, so IDK.
