I'm pointing this out because it seemed that there was a lot of talk of Reach's forge mode being TOO easy to use. A lot of people were saying that forging wouldn't take skill anymore, because some structures were basically pre-made for you. People were basically saying "maybe all those people that are really bad at forge, actually have good ideas, they just couldn't make them as well because they weren't very good at interlocking or merging". And this was actually an excuse made by "noob" forgers for years. And all those times I saw four standing walls with a flat double wall on top named a "base" I would think, "they probably are thinking of a much cooler base in their mind. I know it's hard to make what you want with forge". But now they have no excuse. And yet I see random structures and terrible bases and still horrible maps being posted. Which, ironically makes me happy. These first maps being posted by the beginners are still just as bad as they were in Halo 3. Just neater. And this proves that forging is more than interlocking or merging. Good map makers are good because they are artists. Because they can actually think of those designs. Not because they can make them. And thus, our premium members will more than likely OWN at Reach's forge mode. Am I right?
inorite? I was surprised by the atrociousness of the recently posted maps. You'd think people would take their time making their creation and possibly waiting until the understand Reach gameplay a little. And I also think it is a stupid idea to let people to post maps this quickly
But don't you think it's fun to post these early maps. I know I loved going back and playing some really old map in Halo 3 that I had tons of fun with and thinking "look how far we've come." It really gave a strong sense of progression, nostalgia, and community.
Personally I think you are being a little hard on the newb forgers out there. They became frustrated with halo 3's forge system and gave up. Therefore they do not have the knowledge of what works and what doesn't in a forged map because they have not had trials and errors before. I feel that if we give them some time, the community will come around and we will start to see some really good stuff from more than just a handful of forgers
ForgeHub shouldn't have allowed us to view and post in the Reach Forge Maps until about two weeks after the release. 95% of the maps posted before then will most likely suck anyways.
I hate them all. They are exactly what i knew the first wave would be. I'm taking my time, and I hope it'll show.
