I heard a guy say this on another forum, after looking at a link posted by someone else, who made a very valid discussion as to why some or most of MLG players suggestions should be taken into account for the next patch. Now I'm not a big fan of MLG elitests saying "Zomg I m the bestest players of halo this game shuld b mine!!" or people saying "omg Lockout RM WTF!! there goes bungie catering to the majority of their fanbase..which are nubs!! No MLGers wanted it!!" - Does that make any sense? Why WOULDN'T they cater to the majority? But anyway..I decided to take a look at this list http://www.mlgpro.com/forum/showthread.php?t=138915 And see what it was all about. I was suprised that a large majority of these things were things that bother me..or I complained about, and didn't realize it was anything more than me being a complainer. Check it out, give your oppinion. *NOTE: I am not anti MLG in any way. I am not anti bungie in any way. I love Bungie and think MLG is a fine way to play halo, the same as playing a forged version of Foundry. None of those quotes are my opinions and please do not respond to the topic alone.
No I was referring to the link. The backstory doesn't really have anything to do with the topic. The topic is: Do you agree with the list? Should some of these things be implicated in future patches?
Wow that giant thing I just read is a completely over-exaggerated whine list. Some of them are the dumbest things I've ever heard. The whine about frag grenades not going anywhere when going backwards... I haven't even noticed that! And if it was actually changed, this person would probably whine about it even more about it. I only saw a few things I agree with on this list: AR's are too damn powerful, sniper shots sometimes do not register, needler is just stupid, and only a few others. No one really cares whether or not we can shoot through powerups, or about the size of the freaking wall around the hill. Whoever wrote this list needs to stop whining about a game that is loved by millions of people, and just enjoy what Bungie has created for us.
My bad for not reading your thread fully before I agree with about half those things, some of it was just: "I want everything to be the same as in halo1"
Agreed it is a whine list. But alot of the things like when I say "WTF I HIT THAT GUY 3 TIMES IN THE HEAD WITH THE SNIPER" is actually a realized problem that should be fixed, when I thought it was lag or me being dumb. Things like powerups..when are they positioned where someone can be behind them? Not overly often. AR needs to go down...uh grenades are powerful enough so yeah..addition distance for more grenade whoring is dumb. Iuno..some of those things MLG complains about is bungie catering to nubs..then again..in some cases MLG is catered to as well. Stupid middle child syndrom
There are several things I do and don't agree with. Several seemed like petty complaining. A lot of the customization complaints I agree with. They added a lot of options but left out good ones they had in Halo 2. A lot of the gameplay issues I don't see problems with. I could make a list of ones I agree with and ones I don't but that would make a long post.
Why doesn't this guy just go play Halo 1 if he wants all of H2 and 3 the EXACT SAME. If you think about powerups in games, they aren't really ever placed where a person could hide behind them. The only place I can think of is on the default OS on the Pit. I agree with the more customizations, but not the ones he listed besides more time for KotH. I want my neutral flag and 3+ teams for CTF back! Whining about the marker for the hill is ridiculous. On a few points (like not being able to throw grenades farther when running AWAY from targets. WTF is master chief supposed to be the short stop for the New York Yankees and throw away from the target to 1st base?), he admitted that it wasn't realistic. WHY WOULD IT BE A GOOD IDEA THEN? This guy needs a nice glass of whine.
I know eh some of his things are BS. But alot of them make sense. Grenades thing doesn't make any sense though...grenade whores are bad enough
Gosh, I don't really think some of those are realistic, but some are fine, I guess. I am just absolutely sick of all this, "Halo 3 SHOULD have..." "THIS game has this, why don't we?" "I want, I want, I want." Does anyone else agree? THat is all I have heard since September 25, 2007.
Agreed. That isn't as bad as the classic line: "Can we have this?" Then, once they get it, they don't want it. Two great examples of this are the MLG community with a Lockout remake and the new melee system.
There is a lot of pointless whining there, but he does make a few good points, such as the sniper glitches and the powerup stacking glitch. And personally, I kinda miss throwing the flag and jumping melees from Halo 1, but things like this are constantly being abused, so I figure it's best to keep it simple. Other things I agree with would be spectator mode, I would love to watch live MLG and tourney matches. And the sword pretty much sucks anymore. With a little practice, just about anyone can knock a guy with a sword out of the air with a shotgun or mauler.... A larger field of view would be welcomed by me as well. However, I personally think that increasing the size of the rocket launcher's explosion would be a bad idea, just because it would promote rocket spamming from across large maps. Same with the grenade explosion sizes... The OS does kinda suck, but it makes up for it by giving the invincability for the time while it's charging, and the flare is completely useless. At least, I've never found a use for it. The theater fast forward bugs me, but having tried to program similer engine's into my much more basic games, I completely understand the reasoning behind it. I'm perfectly content with the game the way it is, and the only things I think Bungie really needs to fix, are the actual glitches. Some of the other stuff would be nice, but not necesary. I agree with you wholeheartedly. There are some glitches he listed, but it's been a while since I read that so I don't remember all the exact points he made, though your all right, there is too much "We want and why isn't". At the same time, it's curious why they would change certain things for the worse, though I guess thats all personal preference.
It IS personal preference. I really don't give a hoot either way. I just adapt and move on and then I get to listen to the next noob who whines about what I did to kill them. Some things are valid points but they cannot be fixed. I personally think the needler isn't a problem except for how inconsistent the explosions are. I'm annoyed at how often I have to unload a second clip into the person because the needles didn't connect and blow up. The needler's bullets are slow and are very simple to avoid by strafing and jumping around them. Man, that guy pays way too much attention to detail. Nobody else rants about such extraordinarily simple things.
