    The Tunnel
    Created by Mr Fausticals

    Supported Gametypes:
    infection- gametype in link below.

    Version 2 is coming soon!

    Map Description
this is an interesting version of infection where the zombie drops down on innocent victims from the roof of a long tunnel. The humans are equipped well enough to fend for themselves. At the end of the tunnel is a weapon base for the humans. prepare to wet yourself because zombies can pop out outta nowhere! ALSO,this is not a normal infection map, there are no rooms to camp the whole game and really tick off the zombies. You will be killed!

    Overview of map
    [IMG]

view of the zombie respawn, notice the pallets on the roof.

The zombies will drop down into this tunnel, notice the falling pallet once again. the pallets will tell the humans whether the zombie might be coming in.

Human respawn. the custom power ups will make you slower so you will have to enjoy the ride through the tunnel!

The humans must work as a team to avoid getting caught by surprise!

heres an example of why you shouldnt be a lone ranger.

at the end of the tunnel you will find the weapon base. there will be a grav lift you must destroy first though.

heres a picture of the weapons you will find. not too powerful ehh?

zombies must use tactic to distract the human! he doesn't have a radar so hes gonna be depending on his frontal vision.

heres another hallway connected to the weapon base where the humans can have more "freedom". also zombies may enter by the doors.

I'd like to thank all the testers that helped me. I'd also like to add that i am not the best forger so constructive criticism is obliged rather than mean nagging. I'd Also like to add that i got the idea from the map Security Tunnel on foundry. I love the map and I wanted to do it honor by recreating it with a little more "flair".

Not too bad I like the concept, and what the map has to offer, although the map does look messy... After you get to the weapons,, then what?

Also, why are there are people inside objects? Is this just a glitch or lag or something..

EDIT: ohhh nvm, in the 5th picture, it looks like hes merged but he's just behind a block. Sneaky stuff.

I gave it a quick run through and played a coupled 4 player infection game with me, my friend, and two brothers.

We really enjoyed playing it but there are a few things I would suggest for a possible second version:

    • Once you get to the end of the tunnel, the gameplay seems to get a little dull. Might I suggest making the tunnel go full circle so players are constantly running in a circle to add a deeper sense of suspense? Plus, if you pull it off right and make no camping spots, the only way to win the game is to run in circles and stick together which would make the game a little more unique in my opinion, not to mention even more fun.

    • The ceiling could use a few more openings. After a few games, we came to memorize where they were which slightly ruined it in a sense. Plus, with the addition of more openings and what I stated above, more suspense is added and would eliminate camping more effectively.
Aside from the above, it plays well and is really fun. I'd really like to try this with a full party.

If you ever plan on making a v2, I'd love to help out. I've always wanted to make a map similar to this but never really got around to it.

in some ways my bad forging is noticed and yeah it looks pretty messy, but if you play the game you will notice it doesn't effect the game too much at all. the weapon room is kind of like the final stand for the humans, but it is not all since the humans can walk down the next hall to another room with a turret. the turret room is not overpowered don't worry.

hmm.. yeah thats a really good idea on the full circle tunnel. the only thing that might cause a problem then is the lack of "wooden" items, but you wouldnt need them if you simply used blocks to make the ceiling.

Possibly have certain parts of the tunnel roof be only large sections of movable blocks that fall through when jumped on, hit, or activated by a switch of some sort? This can also add suspense for the human players as the infected can fall with the blocks inevitably causing chaos and confusion.

Another idea, maybe have an open roofed area of sorts that had a killball floating high above the area with vehicles inside said killball making them explode causing various debris to fall to the ground continually? It can also add to the chaotic, suspenseful feeling. Plus, adding a power weapon in the middle of the landing zone (Perhaps a Shotgun or something ridiculous that takes a while to respawn like a Spartan Laser [though an SL would seem useless on a map such as this other than just getting a Laser Kill]) could give players a good reason to pass through other than escaping a horde of infected.

Another reason why a continual circle tunnel would work well in the end would give players that "Left 4 Dead feel" by traveling a linear path whilst facing zombies. However, in most of those maps, the only fun part is the traveling and not the camping in the final room. Therefore, a continous circle would give you that feeling for the whole game. Plus, it seems more strategic as you can change up your direction mid way in an attempt to psych out the infected team, etc.

Oh, and why not try putting some holes in the walls with gravlifts pointing toward the inside of the tunnels. That way, zombies can enter but humans can't leave. This could also add another element to the game by having the humans watch multiple in areas instead of the ceiling by itself. The zombies will also have a better chance to set up ambushes this way as well.

I saw the old version of this in foundry and I really enjoyed it, but one question, is it possible to still get the humans at the end when they have got to the weapons room? If not then I think you could consider just less weapons and way more holes :)

I think you should make the whole thing pitch black, and use lights in places where there are no weapons so humans have to go into the dark and find the weapons and maybe even hidden zombies, plus I think you could put holes in the floor as well which are only one way so humans cant get out but zombies cant get in.. and some that are blocked so humans can fall in and not get out

If you play the map it is pretty dark in some parts. the last room s even easier to get into than the 2 entrance foundry map, in the weapon base there is the front entrance, a back entrance, a hallway entrance and a roof entrance.

As other people have mentioned, making the map a complete circuit would add to the linear aspect of the gameplay. Additionally, consider adding more holes for the zombies. Judging by the pictures, there are few enough that they could actually be memorized fairly quickly. For a v2, just consider taking the opportunity to clean up some of the lines.

Apart from that, it looks like the gameplay is fast-paced and fun, and the low lighting adds to the suspense. I'll have to wait for my 360 to get back from repairs before I can DL, though...
