Don't see a suggestions thread, so I'll just make one and kick it off. 1) Bring back video features!!!! I just dug up the old FH youtube channel and some of the old video features were freaking awesome! Let's bring this back! 2) FHF (Forge Hub Favorites). Remember this? Let's bring it back, but as it was rife with abuse from members forming cliques of voter blocks, lets revamp how it's ran yeah? 3) TGIF! (Friday Forge Nights). Was a big thing that brought the community together. Let's try to get at least a bi-weekly one rolling again. Sign up thread with RSVP and map proposals. As the forge community is a little slow with pumping out content atm, even bi-weekly might be too frequent... 4) Contests! Tournaments! Contests and tournaments! Submit maps, win stuff. Play tournaments on submitted maps, win more stuff! Please chime in with other suggestions guys! Let's build this site back up and have it thrive again!
1.) I second the video features and the contests/tournaments as mentioned by SS. 2.) The is a Home | Forums | Maps | and Members tab. I would like a tab that was just a place where members could fill out a quick little form, submit it, and it would show up at the top of that page with what they were available for at the time. | Citizen Bovine looking for players to playtest |...| Citizen Bovine is available to playtest |...| Citizen Bovine is looking for a Custom Game |
@citizen - thinking of LFG Destiny - this system would really benefit users looking to host or join custom games. I think thats a different system from halocustoms because its more immediate and less scheduled correct?
Correct. Just a page where we can hit refresh, or get a notification, and see hey Warholic needs some players right meow to help test his map. I think, if the community grows with MCC, that it would be a great way for those of us who truly value the input of others and are eager to help others when they need it. I have already noticed that people want help testing but are don't want to return the favor and I think with an easy system like this would help collaboration at least a little bit. When I mod on unreal on the pc I don't have troubles getting help but I struggle a little bit on consoles which is why I am glad to have found FH. So, I hope I can expand my friends list to as many members as possible and for me, being new, means I am willing to help as much as possible before I expect to receive and eager help from the FH community.
The community just isn't big enough yet. Halo 3 in its prime it was nothing to get a full blown party to test at any time of the day. That system would help if we can grow again. Sadly without a fileshare system in place I don't see it getting where we need it anytime soon.
Unless I missed it a quick link to see other maps a member has post would be nice. Some forgers have a style that I really enjoy and it would be nice to see all of their maps together
Just got a monitor back today so I have been down, but I like this. 1) One seems like something that should be figured out immediately. 2) Is something I worry about. If you made it so a person can only vote on users once every other favorite. 3) I wouldn't mind hosting a 2v2 night but I hate managing larger lobbies. 4) I was actually thinking how cool it would be to have mini-game tournament. I have no idea what the goals of the site are. I love to design and forge but I don't take myself to seriously when it comes to all of this stuff. Other things about 2) The whole notion of deciding what makes a map good without testing it bothers me so having a favorites bothers me. I know I had a map that was a favorite and I barely tested it. I think tournament maps should be featured and there should be at least one map that is used in the tournament that is decided by a community vote. This seems like it would be fair.
- Video content is something that's in the works. It will be at least another month before plans are solidified. - Agreed that FHF should make a return. I personally don't really have a problem with the bias that comes with it. I just accept it as part of the package. I'd personally rather see it named 'Community Favorites' or 'Forgehub Community Favorites' so it's clear that winners are chosen by the community, but the name's not really that important. - Customs nights are a good idea. I'd like to see that happen at some point. - Contests and Tournaments will definitely happen! The lack of file sharing (along with the general unreliability of the game as a whole) makes everything difficult right now, but good ideas. We're looking to get some of that stuff rolling soon..
@purely fat I love the idea of the community building their own maps (say for 4v4), all of of those players test out each map, a vote is held, and then a tournament is held of 3 of those maps. Something like ^ that sounds like a lot of fun to me. That being said, I'm not stoked about just doing competitive forge maps all of the time. I enjoy mini games and puzzles a good deal as well.
I think with the favorites it wouldn't be a bad idea to have some voting restrictions. I think this could help with the issue of having a group of people always pushing each others maps.
I did used to enjoy making videos. Let us never forget Big Freeze. Good times. Good times. No Xbox One though Times have changed.
THERE NEEDS TO BE A BETTER WAY TO TEST MAPS!!! Please have a section fully dedicated to map testing. I'm talking about at the top it would read Home, Forums, Maps, Map Testing, Members, etc. You need to make a big deal of it for it to really work. If you support this please say so and make sure staff understands how badly we want this!
@TurbTastic I agree with this. Maybe as a subsection of the Maps tab. Posting just to the Forge Discussion is not enough for me. I agree it needs to have more of an emphasis.
That would be great & all but without enough members willing to dedicate themselves to it then a sub section for map testing would be pointless. Back in the day there was the "Testers Guild" but it wasn't run by the staff or anything. It was just a group of members that had enough people (site was loaded with people in Halo 3 days) to have lots of tests everyday. These newer guys have no idea how much traffic this site had back then. It's crazy how small FH is now compared to when I joined.
I figured that MCC would boost the community traffic. I'm postive a lot of people got it for Christmas but with all of the connection nonsense those people have not been able to enjoy this game at all.
