So I was thinking today about Heretic, Citadel, and Longshore, and I'm wondering where the skulls are going to be hidden. Anyone got any ideas?

I personally think Bungie's gonna go all-out with at least one of them and hide it somewhere INSANE. Citadel's will probably be found first, then Heretic, then Longshore (unless EVERYONE flocks to Longshore first). I just hope it takes a little longer for people to find the skulls this time and that Bungie gets a little more creative with their hiding spots.

i agree with halo kid it would be cool if you had to destroy a crate or something to get it like it was hidden in a box

The only reason it was found was from hackers reading the game code and such. Bungie was right pissed about that maneuver, because they planned for Hayabusa to be the one thing every was trying to get. However, it was found exceptionally fast (for reasons I explained), and thus the quest for recon was on. Feeling robbed of the pleasures that should have come with the Hayabusa search, Bungie decided to have some fun and mislead Halo fans into believing it was obtainable with a series of cryptic messages and riddles.

That said, I wish they would be a bit more of a challenge to obtain, though apparently the achievements on the road to recon are quite challenging.

I actually thing Heretic's will be found first. It's Midship almost pixel for pixel (notice "almost") and people know that map like the back of their hand. Unless they add some little nook I'd suspect Heretic's will be first, then Citadel, then Longshore.

Exactly. Without the whole hacking thing I'd be willing to bet no one would've found IWHBYD for a looooong time (hell, maybe it'd still be a mystery today). So I'm hoping they just pull something completely ****ing wacky this time; just imagine the poor sucker floating around Heretic who looks out a window and sees a skull drifting around in space. Ouch.

Thank god for guides.... Microsoft released a Halo 3 guide that you can buy- its not even necessary...

But I think Longshore will be on top of a building or bridge, Heretic will be somewhere easy, Citadel will most likely be in one of the decoration pieces that connect on the wall to the ceiling

It would be cool if the skulls were only available in matchmaking, and required you to go under the map, and complete a complex jumping arena (that is actually part of the map, but still outside it, like that one alley thing in Foundry) to get to it. All while the enemy team is trying to kill you.

But Bungie should really go all out with these skulls, and make them near impossible to find, but still make you feel stupid when you find them in an obvious spot. And hacker proof.

Or just don't put a skull into one of the maps, that way, nobody gets the vidmaster challenge!

I'd like a challenge as well. Should be put outside the map, somewhere that you had to glitch yourself out or something. The sandbox one was actually pretty good if you did it without using a pre-made map that leads you there or you didn't already know where it was and you didn't overload the map to cheat. Me and my friend used a warthog and suped it up by covering it with barricades so the gaurdians couldn't kill us lol and we literally looked around the outside of sandbox for hours till we finally found it.

really? i always wondered how the found it. so...maybe not that hard to find, but still quite difficult. maybe there could be multiple skull, but only one unlocks the achievement. or maybe you could have to find all of them before you get the achievement.

Well the size of a campaign level and a multiplayer map is significant. So considering the scale I think Bungie would keep it at 1 skull.

Lot's of talk about the IWHBYD, when this was supposed to be about the ODST skulls, but w/e.

Anyways, Heretic could have the skull in the bottom of the grav lifts- you know, the part you could break. Or maybe sitting on the outside of a window, and you could grab it through the window.

Longshore could have a tiny ledge just above the water (as in, one you could fall on) with the skull on it.

And Citadel... the ceremonial pieces around the ceiling of it (if ther is those pieces).

yeah except it would be cool if bungie got even more creative with there hiding spots like you have to get out of the map and unlock secret control panels in a certain order and it opens up the gates to hell and you have to fight mutated zombie kittens in order to obtain the skull but i doubt that would happen but it would be cool if they had some kind of extreme challenge along the lines of that.(bungie i request zombie kittens!)

I beleive they actually did give some clues, I think they gave some music (which were the notes when you jumped through the rings). i always thought that is how it was found and not being hackers. Newho.

I can almost tell the longshore skull is going to be high up, in fact I think all 3 are going to be. I dont know of any sort of gaurdians on the map, bungie hid the sandbox one in the laser field because...

A - Skybox is a no no and the crypt would be a bit too easy
B - You cant get to it in game

With Orbital, its the same as B, they make it so you cannot get to it in game.

Sandbox was an exception to it being hidden up high because of the map itself, it wasnt a very aesthetical map with little ledges and being quite enclosed. The 3 new maps are all enclosed to some extent and quite aesthetical. Longshore will be the easiest to find because without a doubt its going to be up high or in some sort of room your unable to get to in game and I think citadel will be the hardest to find because of all the aesthetics of the room. Just my thoughts ;p

For the IWHBYD you had to jump through the rings. But those rings actually played the Halo 1 song. Thats why thats the order. So i reckon some music freak might have gotten it after a while if no one hacked the code.

Same as you guys, i want a challenge this time. Sandbox was easy, orbital was easy and assembly was easy. They should make it so hard and make some puzzle out of it instead of just hiding it somewhere around the map.

I bet longshore will be up high somewhere or maybe under the water or something. Citadel is probably perched up high in the middle room and assembly probably has it in a little nook somewhere. PLEASE BE HARD TO FIND.

EDIT: I also wonder what they are going to do for the ODST skulls. Hopefully they have a hard one like IWHBYD.

i believe it is on top of the crane on longshore, or a random white orb

on citedel it seems easy, its very small and would sound easy
heretic i agree people will find fast because of it being that h2 map and people remember the map

You bought a Microsoft game guide?? What kind of maniac does that?
I never saw the point of buying them. Cos you can always just go on the internet. And the interwebz never lies.

On topic: I am hoping that all three are really hard and so wacky as to be unbelievably impossible. That means somewhere or something nobody in their right mind could think of.
