GAMEPLAY: YouTube - Halo 3 Forge - Sandy Ruins (Sandbox) Okay so lately I've been experimenting on maps and map ideas. Since Halo: Reach is almost out I only have enough time to make a few more maps, and I've always wanted to do something like this. The Sandy Ruins: A small town was built here. It was small and simple. It had a grocery store, a pawn shop, and many houses. It had been built in the middle of a civil war though. The two sides of it were frequently fighting and eventually the line was drawn. The town was split in two. The more successful side with the grocery store and pawn shop, built a fence surrounding their side. This was to keep everyone out, and all those inside safe and secure. The sides grew to resent each other and eventually they went to more drastic attack patterns. The two sides frequently bombed each other and sabataged each other's stores. The houses and buildings started to sink into the sand, now that the foundation was battered, and the buildings started to collapse. The town that was once thriving... Is now in ruins... Map flow explanation: -This map is intended for higher gravity (150%) and deadly bullets. (125% damage, 90% resistance, no shields) -Great for team swat (as long as its 110% speed and 150% gravity) Or my two custom gametypes. -Works with asult and CTF but there is no gametype for it. The simple way is to just change weapons, damage done and taken, shields off, and higher gravity. -There are many buildings scattered, with few weapons. Both sides have equal weapons, and in the fence in the middle of the map, there is a rocket launcher and trip mine. -There are: -2 BR's - 1 extra clip with each -2 AR's - 1 extra clip with each -2 SMG's - 2 extra clips with each -1 Rocket Launcher - 1 extra clip -3 trip mines - one on each side and one in the middle -6 or so mongooses - 2 on each side, 2 next to fence -2 SR's - 1 extra clip with each (- Probably more i forget -.-') Screenshots: Out of Order -<Map>- -<Gametype 1 (Free For All)>- -<Gametype 2 (Team)>- ENJOY!!
This looks very neat and well forged, so great job. My only complaint is that you mentioned in your post that there is a grocery store and pawn shop on one side, but it is hard to tell from your forging what was the grocery store and what was the pawn shop. I am assuming that they are the two largest buildings but I honestly don't know, because you made it sound like there was ONLY a grocery store and pawn shop on the one side, so I had trouble understanding the layout. I would fix that, but other than that, this map looks great.
First, I would suggest posting pictures on this thread to better show a layout of the map so everyone can get a better feel for it. Okay, it looks like you have a pretty good grasp on merging into map geometry. However, the map looks like a bunch of random structures. There aren't any control points or desired bases it seems..
Awesome stuff. I think you may have mentioned this to me when we were having a game. Looks hectic as ****. We'll have to play this sometime. Send me a request anytime i'm online. Nice job bro
Guys this map was never intended to be a team-based map! it was always supposed to be in the FFA category... But one of my friends liked team games so i made it work with team doubles, and regular Red vs Blue action. The sides are not equal and they aren't supposed to be. I will post pics with the explanation later!!
There is definitly alot on this map, looking kind of cluttered in some parts though. That is the only thing I am concerned about, with so much clutter around, the map will not floaw as well because people will constantly be jumping around.
