The Pyramid of Giza & Tomb Raider (flood map)

    Hello all, welcome to a quick preview.
    I have not long started this map and there will be a lot to do before it is ready.
    This map is designed to pay homage to the great Pyramid of Giza.
    I wanted to include the layout of an actual pyramid in this map, I thought with the tombs and pyramid it would fit p[SIZE=4]erfectly for [SIZE=4]a flood type map.

    [SIZE=4]Firstly [SIZE=4]the pyramid is angled on a 5[SIZE=4]2 de[SIZE=4]gree an[SIZE=4]gle... the actual pyramid is 51.8 degree. This means the pyramid is not traversable on the exterior[SIZE=4]... but as this map is contained in the pyra[SIZE=4]mid it is not an issue.

    [SIZE=4]Secondly I have [SIZE=4]studied many pictures to capture interio[SIZE=4]r of pyramid... [SIZE=4]unfortunately[/SIZE] as they have been totally looted there is no pictures of what [SIZE=4]it may have looked like. But [SIZE=4]I have included the k[SIZE=4]ings chamber and a [SIZE=4]sarcophagus and a structure simmilar in design to the original, I have had to make some modifications to make it playable whic[SIZE=4]h does detract from the aesthetics, but as this [SIZE=4]has always been about making a flood map, I am [SIZE=4]willing t[SIZE=4]o sacrifice [SIZE=4]aesthetics[/SIZE] over gameplay.

    [SIZE=4]Both the kings an[SIZE=4]d queens cham[SIZE=4]ber lead to the tombs under the pyrami[SIZE=4]d, There are two[SIZE=4] shoots up to the map for [SIZE=4]the flood to use, It is also possible to drop down on th[SIZE=4]e bottom shoot if clinging to back wall with no fall damage.

    [SIZE=4]I really want to get lots of testing on this and work out exactly what is needed to make this play well...

    [SIZE=4]The custom gametype is called Tomb Raider - [SIZE=4]this may change but w[SIZE=4]ill be tomb[SIZE=4] or pyramid orientated name.
    [SIZE=4]At the moment I have 3 zombie start for a party of 16
    [SIZE=4]I have tur[SIZE=4]ned on dro[SIZE=4]ps and random drops, they have a few different weapons [SIZE=4]and abilities. The drops are damage boost at top of kings chamber, overshield [SIZE=4]mid and speed boost lower (queens chamber)

    Awesome Tim... and the real pyramids use to be white too. Now they are pretty much fake. Anyhow this looks great and I'll check it out for sure. It wasn't on your fileshare yet. I'd certainly be down to help with testing Flood matches and any ideas for improvements if I have any. Nice work bro.

    EDIT: I dunno why but I missed that this had anything to do with Tomb Raider when I read it this morning.

    Thanks, I would appreciate help testing and any suggestions. I want to get a good crew together of people who love infection - flood, to get there input into this map. I haven't added to file-share yet or the custom game-type. I have sent a friend request.
    Tomb Raider is the custom game-type for the map... I may change the name... I just thought it was fitting with the map as there are tombs under the pyramid that is part of game-play. Thanks

    very nice Tim. It turns out we're working on similar projects but not totally overlapping or duplicating. Maybe I'll send you a FR so you can see what I'm doing just for curiosoty's sake.

    a hint is that my pyramid is 2D and in the background of a battlefield.

    I probably love custom Flood gametypes the most in Halo 4. Also any maps designed with a theme fitting pyramids, stone henge, ancient structures, star trek, sci-fi, post-apocalyptic cities, etc.

    JKaddict would be good for the crew also, I think us 3 have similar tastes with forging. Only difference is you guys actually finish your maps lol. Next time I try to make one I am going to pre-plan this time with a basic blueprint. I think that's the main reason mine always turn out being just aesthetics and gameplay doesn't work, so I give up and scrap it.

    Thanks, I have added some pictures and cleaned the top up nice now. I am happy with the map, It has a nice space inside pyramid that I don't know what to do with.
    Would be interesting to see your take on a pyramid

    I have sent friend request, I have done a bit today but doubt I will back on tonight. Still untested but I still think there is more to add to map before it is ready, just need to think of some structures that would work and look right.

    Also I have loads of maps unfinished, hundreds on reach and atleast 20 - 30 maps on halo 4 ha

    That's a lot of maps man, haha. Anyway, I am out of town here for a few weeks so I won't be available as much due to the Xbox being hooked up to a computer monitor that other people are using (so AFK here and there).

    I don't know if I could be any help with what you are trying to think of to build (can certainly try), like inside the pyramid or wherever. But I might come up with some ideas. I mostly get stuck on how to build what I want to build, hehe.

    Pyramids were used for interdimensional ritual so a lot of them had things like water that flowed down paths or steps that was used as a conductor for electromagnetic energy, to enhance the rituals. In movies they link them with Stargates and such for portals... if that can give you any ideas, I dunno. Not the water obviously unless it could be done with dominion shield effects. All I got off the top of my head for now.

    Thanks, funnily enough I did add a star gate ha, but have deleted it for something more authentic. The copper that is used in the pyramids of Giza was sourced a few miles from where I live, from the Great Orm in north Wales.
    There is water running under my pyramid too :) ...I wouldn't add one way shields as they are to noisy, but I will keep it in mind, thanks.
    Last night I added two giant statues sitting that I seen a picture of and it does add more to the map...At the entrance to kings chamber. Also the corridors are copied from pictures inside pyramid. I will continue improving map, getting ready for testing. Thanks

    Looks amazing man. Did you make the pyramid using off-snap? Or use angles?

    Thanks, I made it using co-ordinates for angle of 52 degrees, 1 degree turn inwards to give a clean look, and the V shapes...I did make it all freehand at first using straight lines and a large base and then added correct angles when pieces were close the pyramid is all snapped in place and no movement which is helpfull. The duplicate piece function made this a lot easier.

    Yeah I agree the shields are noisy... can't wait to see what you got so far. Let me know if you put a temporary version on your file share.

    I have sent a couple of game inv but you are busy ha ....You were phoning home? ha (ET). I have come to a little standstill on this. I added a couple of statues, an Egyptian cross (Ankh) and a star gate, a couple of side structures and also improved mancannon shoots. Will try and get some testing on this later.

    Tim you should put an Alpha/Beta version on your fileshare temporarily unless you don't want to yet. Sorry I haven't been around much as I am still out of town on vacation. If you do end up sticking an alpha version on your fileshare let me know before you delete it.

    Thanks man! Have tried to add your new profile. Have made a few interesting maps over last week that are ready for testing. This one Is almost done now. I have added 2 giant statues on one doorway and some more aesthetics around map. I have also added a few gametypes, Flood, slayer , ctf , koth and juggernaut. I need to change the initial drops as it looks like Christmas happy shopper at mo tho

    Yeah it wont be long now and I will have a beta version up. Just a few little things to fix. Thanks :)
