I set myself a challenge this year to watch 100 movies and so far I'm right on track with a quarter of the goal done a quarter of the way into the year. And I figure this would be the best place to post it but I might make a thread for it down the line. I figure I probably watch around 100 movies a year anyway but I decided to keep track of it this year. Also, I'm only counting movies I have not seen before or movies I don't remember (like movies I watched when I was very young). Anyway, here's the list. I finally watched that this year too, had my shitty attitude towards westerns thrown in my face. Loved it. How was Dear Zachary? I started to watch that once but got bored.
I've never been big on westerns either. Although I've found, at least with the last few westerns I've watched, that a great western hooks me and captivates me much more so than most other genres. Dear Zachary was powerful stuff. I knew very little about what happened and it was unsettling to see how the whole thing ended up. It's only 90 minutes so I'd say it's worth watching or revisiting.
I watched Dear Zachary this past Christmas on a plane.. It's very powerful as Linubidix said. I would recommend the watch... the second half is by no means boring. I just watched The Imposter (it's on Netflix in the US), and I was thoroughly mindblown.. It's a documentary about a guy from Spain who manages to pretend that he's a family's long lost missing son.. And it's way more than that. Edit: I don't know if you've seen trasnformers revenge of the fallen but this review (<click there) is amazing
I should probably set myself a challenge like this considering I am doing a film degree and I barely watch any films.
I'm currently trying to watch this list of documentaries on netflix... But yeah, those movies sound awesome Linu
So I went and seen Evil Dead. at first i wasn't liking it, because it didn't really match up with the story. Their names don't match (No Ash, no whatever the others were named.) and some other things that happened that didn't match up. It took more of the serious tone, but when you have an entire Movie theater with you and your two cousins, you can laugh at anything (And we're pretty ****ed up when it comes to laughing at things.) Overall, I'd say on a pass/rent/buy scoring, its a good rent. And if your local theaters do Matinée, then I'd say catch it.
I agree. Year One was a horrible movie. They added too much "comedy" in it and what happened was the story line went to ****.
Safety not guaranteed is the best movie I've seen in years, even. Everyone go watch it. Nao. Also, rewatched Looper and liked it 2x better the second time around. Was a little cynical the first time I guess, dunno :/
Just saw Man of Steel...was very disappoint. Spoiler Soooooooooo many people die because of Superman's actions
Watched it the other day out of curiosity, needless to say I was fairly impressed and surprised at the same time, beautifully awkward and interesting at the same time. Idk if I've brought this movie up in this thread before, but 500 Days of Summer is also a must see. Comical, and insightful. One of my favorites, just rewatched it, still like it as much as the first time I saw it, if not more.
the****outtahere. that is an insane statement, subjective or not. it's cool. But it's most certainly not: -great -better than any other movie a person has seen in years, granted that person has seen 4 or more movies over said years. I LOVE Plaza. And Duplass was good enough, I guess. But they style of the movie is mostly boring, as most of Duplass's work outside of The League is.
Plaza is great, her humor is so fantastic imo. cough I'm slightly obsessed with her. I thought it was somewhat boring the first time, until towards the end. I think it has one of the best plots someone could make today. So yes, it's a really great movie imo. Sure, it's not nearly as complicated as say momento, but its simplicity and themes are almost perfect imo. Recently watched: punch drunk love, Jeff, who lives at home, 50/50 - they were all different but good 500 days of summer is up there, I haven't seen man of steel yet
