READ ME: The Download Link will direct you to "Tour de Forge V.3" This is the correct map, but i did not realize there was already one called that on Forgehub when i upped it. I changed the thread name for the purpose of this forum, but cannot change the name of the map itself. Thanks and sorry for any confusion.

A scientific team was dispatched to research a newly discovered facility left by the ancient inhabitants of Halo. Three structures with glowing orbs and a large tower with a similar orb were contained on an area of land by the coast. The scientists determined that the three orbs were power containment structures, and that these orbs powered the tower, which they dubbed "The Lighthouse". Each orb draws power from a different natural force to ensure that the Light never goes out. The orb closest to the lighthouse appears to use geothermal power from the earth. The orb on the cliffs uses a process similar to our solar panels. And the orb on the beach is linked to underwater hydroelectric generators.

At first, they assumed that its purpose (like any other lighthouse) was to warn sea-travellers about the rocky coastline. But after scientists began disappearing, people began to wonder if the beacon was put there as an ever-present guardian: its watchful eye warning others to stay away.

We dispatched a patrol to put up a guard wall around the lighthouse and move its base of operations to the cliffs above and to the adjacent island. After this patrol also disappeared, we decided the best course of action was to block off all access to this area until further information about the threat can be gathered. We have redacted all documents pertaining to this facility, but a handfull of thrill-seekers that had already heard about this abandoned area decided to use it as their personal playground. The natural terrain and objects left by the ancients, scientists, and military have apparently created an environment that lends itself to their hobby of racing stolen UNSC Mongooses.

Below are pictures and descriptions of how these people are using this area. If they come up missing, this information may help us find out what is happening at this installation. Keep in mind that this "track" is quite long and that the experienced "racer" can complete a full circuit in around 5 minutes. Be prepared to devote enough time if observing their standard 3-lap race.

The track begins at the cave behind our Communication Building that exits at one end of the canyon.

From here they drive along the front of the scientists former residences up to the cliff on the left side of the image where they drive off from roof to roof to ground, then along the guard wall leading towards and through the small cave, which we have highlighted for you using the white circular marking at the top right.

Coming out of the cave they have to make a loop around the Lighthouse, research facility, guard towers, and Containment Orb Alpha-GT to get enough speed to use the geo-thermal vent to launch them over the beach security wall. Less risky drivers have been seen using the walkway to our guard-post as a ramp to get over the wall. Following is a photograph taken by our surveillance team of this:

As you can see, the vent is capable of launching them over the wall, but it does appear riskier if not taken correctly. This jump lands them onto the beach where they have constructed a ramp leading to a cliff side vent that launches them up to the bluff codenamed: Montana.

As you can see, this is a very effective way to reach the bluff. The scientists were testing a similar application which the racers use to their advantage in the next area.

From here, they start at the highlighted area we have marked at the bottom, and wind their way around the rocks toward the scientist's vent testing system, that leads to bluff 2 codenamed: Alaska.

The dish they land on was an unfinished teleporter (powered by Containment Orb Beta-SP) that would have made for easy travel between Alaska and Montana. This part of the "track" leads through tight s-curves formed by our recreation center, barracks, and chapel.

This picture shows the teleporters in question. With enough speed, they are actually able to exit out of the top of the watchtower with just enough speed to land on some of our temporary lean-tos we set up on the beach during our inital arrival to the island.

From these make-shift ramps, they drive past Orb Container Gamma-HT toward the beach landing platform walkway, then up into the central artificial cave. Exiting the other side they drive back toward the smaller island going over, then around and under the small bridge and into the natural beach cave highlighted on the rightside of the island.

This surveillance photo shows two racers exiting the cave and driving under the fishing piers along the beach toward the coastline.

This image shows the coastline and fallen rocks that the drivers use as obstacles and ramps on their way back to the beginning.

From images like the one above we were able to determine that racer codenamed "Ufochaser42" is the event organizer. Other racers known to have frequented the track during its inception include those codnamed "Sillyboots", "Sh0rtBusKid", and "LionSevenYeoman". They are all considered mostly harmless, however approach these individuals cautiously if engaged.

Please report back to this message board with any feedback from observations of this activity. Thank you.

    Mapmaker notes:

Wow! It's been a long time since i've posted here! So, like many others, my first thought when flying through Forgeworld was, "Hey, this would make an awesome race track!" So i made one. After figuring out the layout i thought i was really creative calling it "Tour De Forge", but it looks like someone else had the same idea. I have already uploaded this, so i won't change the name. But this is the 3rd version of my map, so it is easily differentiated from Vertigo's. The previous versions were tests of ideas i've was testing. I wanted to really flesh it out and get rid of as many bugs as i could before posting it here. I also spent a lot of time working on the structures and scenery. I wanted it to be very aesthetic so i created structures and buildings with painstaking anal-retentive attention to detail, using every penny available. Please let me know what you think. Thanks in advance!
