Creators: lilman546 and DedicatedRag3 Description: The Hill is a fast paced king of the hill battle on Foundry, featuring a large hill with multiple ways up in the center of the map and hallways underneath it. Located at each base is a small cache of weapons and equipment along with a man cannon to speed the walk to the hill up. But the man cannon comes with a price. When launched, you will hit a power up that disables weapon pickup for 60 seconds, effectively balancing the shortcut. Across from the hill in the center is a mini hill where the spartan laser spawns, allowing those who aquire it to pick people in the hill off. Located under the hill is a flamethrower and a shotgun for each side of the hill. On the tip of the hill the gravity hammer can be found, a valuble weapon for fending off the enemy, even if just to knock them off the hill. At each base a sniper with very low ammo can be found to pick people off the top of the hill. Gameplay is fast paced, chaotic, but balanced at the same time as both teams fight to control the hill centrally located on the map. The hill is surrounded by small barriers with battle rifle spawns and a variety of other weaker weapons. Looks fun for Team KOTH. You know, have 2 or 3 people up in the hill, and like 1 or 2 back off the hill sniping people, like you see in one of your pictures, the guy with the Laser.
Not very original, but well executed. Multiple way's to get up, a support tower, a way to take out the support tower. Balance is the key to everything. If you create a impenetrable support tower, the match would be lopsided, a rush to the tower. But the fusion coils make it a target, to use with caution. But I'm not seeing any weapon placement, so I assume it's balanced.
wouldn't the custom powerup idea work better with a slight decrease in health/shields, the weapon pickup idea is good, but they'd still have an AR to terrorize with ....
Ya it may not seem that original to you guys but I like it. Its simple and to the point. Plus I love koth. Havent played it though so i dunno about the weapon balance but i think i am gonna go copy this idea just out of boredom.
Thanks for the positive comments! Even though your right that this map isn't original at all, it wasn't meant to be. We it made to be a more balanced and fun version of the concept of a giant hill map. s_tygard, i like your idea of lowering the shields slightly for going off the man cannon, but the intent of the powerup was to keep people from rushing the grav hammer from the start, but I'll be sure to test it later.
well then keep the powerup traits the way they are and add the lowered shields. If someone jumps the lift throws a lucky few grenades and cleans up with an AR they might just be able to wait for Grav Hammer ..... I don't know i'de have to try it.
