No school today! A natural gas pipe broke. I took this time to recreate an old map that I accidentally deleted. Without further adieu I present "The Hill". Map: The Hill (Foundry) Gametype: King of The Hill _________________________________________________ Map Description: It's a simple concept that evolved into a somewhat complex map. In essence this map is a hill. It is a symmetrical map mirrored diagonally from corner to corner. At the peak of the hill is the KotH goal point. I tried to open up the map by adding a few tunnels and nooks that cut through the hill. The tunnel on the bottom has a grav lift that can be useful in climbing quickly to the top. The second floor tunnel is home to the rockets which are not as easy to use here as you might think. A bubble shield spawns on the third floor after 60 seconds and is necessary. As you can see from the pics, the goal point is very open to attack. Active Cameo and Overshield are on the secod floor in the nooks directly behind the second floor stairs. I like the idea of this map, but I'm not sure how it will play. _________________________________________________ Gametype Description: The most obvious gametype for this map is King of the Hill (or King of The Hill) :squirrel_giggle: The notable differences of this gametype from Crazy King are an increased resistance to damage while in the hill and a static hill. I haven't gotten around to playing this, since I just made it today, but I think the increased damage resistance is definitely needed because the goal point is just so open. _________________________________________________ The Hill - Side A The Hill - Side B Rockets and Goal Grav Lift Tunnel Side A Sniper _________________________________________________ Comments: I'm interested to see how this map plays. It was my first time using the merging objects glitch and I kinda got lazy towards the end when I was making the outer walls. I also had trouble trying to make the goal snipe-able from the ground floor. It was difficult to keep the ground floor from being open while also trying to reduce the number of ways to get on to the first floor. Notes: - AC and OS might be too much for this size map. That goes for some other weapons too. - Slayer and possibly One-Bomb Assault could be successful here. - Spawns are tricky to make fair here, starting spawns especially. - I still don't understand the function of respawn areas, but I used one nonetheless. Enjoy this map, and give me some feedback, please. If this map fails it's because you didn't help it succeed! :squirrel_wink:
This map looks remarkably similar to a map that I almost finished but lost interest in. It's spooky. But mine was set up for Multi Flag where both flags spawned at the top of the hill and the teams had to fight their way up there and get the flag back down to the bases. You should learn how they work. In some maps, they make all the difference in the world.
Well thats why I increased the damage resistance. I don't think it would be as unfair as you would think, though. The bubble shield helps and the brute shots are deadly. Maybe adding barriers around that third floor would help?
Thank you. I wanted it to have the feel of the real life version of the game. Also the pictures of Side A should have another fence wall between sign A and the fence wall. I took those pictures before I was completely finished.
