GET OUT OF FOUNDRY O.k. look I realise that foundry is the only choice for certain maps but lately forgehub has become FOUNDRYHUB and this needs to change. Halo 3 is one of if not the best looking games to date and most of the people here spend most of their time forging and then playing on the most visually boring map I cannot look at the same walls and the same grey green and brown colours anymore.ITS TIME FOR A CHANGE! What I want to do is compile a guide that shows the world outside foundry to these agoraphobic shut-ins who may not be aware of the vast potentail that lives outside foundy I need YOUR HELP,if like me you think that forgehub is becoming foundryhub here is your chance to show others what lies beyond those grey wall and green boxes I need from you SCREENSHOTS Have you looked at the skyline and thought wow then take a pic showing the beauty of halo TIPS AND GUIDES Noticed something interesting on a map?Have a technique you want to share?Do you know something about the non dlc maps someone else might not? UNDERWATER COMBAT As you may or may not know the beach on high ground can be easily "broken into" by pushing a r.node out there and then saving and quiting its very interesting as it add an underwater section to the map I have used this to create a d-day style assault map,a grenade fishing minigame and a couple of other things It also provides another area to take weird pics if that floats your boat{all puns intended}this was a simple coils explosion I wasn't even trying to do anything POWERFUL POWER CORES As you can see here the warthog has been fired way up in the air this took nearly all the fusion coils on standoff to achieve However roughly 4-6 power cores would give you the same result,try it the force generated will surprise you BIRDS OF PREY A simple areil cat and mouse minigame GET SOME AIR{not advertising I don't care about downloads all I care about is useful feedback} link in the sig MAPS SHOULD BE MORE THAN INTERLOCKING AND MERGING THE SHOULD BE ABOUT IDEAS AND VARIED GAMEPLAY So submit your maps tips and pics and maybe we will drag {probably kicking and screaming} a few foundry addicts out into the sun and then maybe,just maybe every second or third map won't be on foundry POST YOU SUBMISSIONS HERE AND I WILL COMPILE THE BEST INTO ANOTHER THREAD REMEBER PICS ARE WORT A THOUSAND WORD AND VIDEO IS PRICELESS!! Definately a great Idea, my two current maps I'm making are on Foundry, and I'm still going to help my friends with their Foundry maps and all, but I will always work with Foundry, but I'm just gonna work with Foundry MUCH less often. Great idea, more people need too look outside the cramped warehouse and see the giant icy barren of Avalanche, the grassy landscape of Valhalla, and the largely open Standoff.
you know what would be cool, a nonfoundry day. basically a special day at forgehub where you can't post maps that are on foundry, we could have contests, and prizes and it would be sweet.

I really like the idea of this. I have to admit, it is pretty saturated with Foundry maps but that can only be because of it's sandbox design. Using new forging methods on older maps would be really good to see some new material and a change of scenery. I am working on a non-foundry map at the moment, but i cant reveal anything about it yet. Its been delayed at the moment because of my work, college etc. Its been suggested that i should submit my two screenshots into this so here they are: Space Snowbound Galaxy
So are you just looking purely for competitive or normal gameplay maps off of Foundry, or screenshots, or minigames, or what? What exactly do you want here, anything not on Foundry? I agree with this wholeheartedly, but I don't really think that this "problem" is gonna be solved any time soon. For people that want to start from scratch and build a really complex and technical map, its basically Foundry or nothing. It's the only map where Bungie just throws us a big open cube room and says "Go for it." As much as I love Avalanche and GT and all that, Foundry isn't dying anytime soon.
yes screenshots showing the amazing and varied colours OUTSIDE foundry Maps of any sort just not on foundry some non dlc would be great and tips on uses for items that aren't in foundry I do think that if you want to make a "technical and complex" map then foudry is the way to go but I want to show that you don't have to make that sort of map I do think it is like trying to turn back the sea but either you are part of the solution or your part of the problem
you are right, but I still voted no My reason- Foundry is the only map that has the necessary objects to make maps We can't make allot of great stuff on other maps unless it's been done before don't worry though on 01/06/09 the Mythic Maps will come out and we will be having tons of great real maps with Sandbox since we can delete down to grid lines and add terrain, weather, and other great stuff
I hosted the Pre-DLC Competition in hopes to cure FH of it's Foundry-addiction. I got people working on Last Resort, which is a neat change from Foundry. I also got a few really good maps out of it. This is a great idea for a thread, nice work.
Ligos Artemis it's in my sig. Cool Avalanche Infection map that uses strategy and, although it does encourage camping, no base is overpowered and Zombies actually have a huge advantage.
Non-Foundry YAY! Totally awesome idea. I voted yes of course. I mean not only do these people stay inside forging on halo they can't even virtually be outside. You should mention in the first post how there is even a FOUNDRY DESIGNER button at the top of Forgehub. I have been trying to forge off of Foundry for awhile now because all I see on the features is Foundry. It is hard I will have to admit but I like testing my brainpower. Some people don't though so they just go make another competitive map on Foundry *cough*MLG contest*cough*. What ever happened to stuff on Last Resort or Valhalla. This guy :tdf: used his brain why can't y'all. Anyone who wants to make maps not on foundry (or on, whatever) GT: El Diabloo :v:
I really want to just post "lol", but I'd probably get banned. The problem, my friends, is that foundry pwns. It was made and given to us specifically for forge. It'd be like you and your family spending your years eating off the ground and then getting a table and plates and while your whole family is using them you're all like "**** THAT, LET'S EAT OFF THE GROUND, GOD DAMMIT!" Now, that being said, I agree with you in many ways, and try to forge out of foundry as often as possible. The flaw in your thread is how you look down on the "foundry-dwellers" and act like "forgehub turning into foundryhub" is the apocalypse.
While not the apocalypse, if you only forge on foundry, you lose 94%(18 maps only use 1) of the possibilities of forge. And 94% of infinity is a lot. plus all foundry maps look and (imo) feel the same.
I completely agree that there is too many foundry maps, although foundry is a perfect sandbox for creating maps its so dull and boring with no open spaces. i reckon that avalanche and standoff make better maps than foundry
I am sad to have noticed this and done nothing about it. Every time i get on halo and think "hey, id like to forge something" I go straight to forge, and automatically choose foundry canvas... its like i have no choice, I just do it. I am actually going to try and make a non-foundry map, but i think foundry is a very important part of forge.

Given recent front page activity its nice to see that there is interest I have my xbox back now but not halo It was stuck in the box when it broke and they didn't send it back it has really pissed me off I will be posting the actual thread soon but if you want to submit a map let me know There is a so much that can be done outside of foundry its an entire would try it or wait for the thread I suggest that you get a drink to wash down those words because you will be eating them amigo Not having a go just making my point A little harsh but right on the money working with bumpy surfaces is tough and there are way too many featured map on foundry granted they are very good but it has a negative effect because a lot of people,not me,want to see their map featured so stick to foundy like glue I would leave the MLG contest alone I think they are aware of my/our feelings This is why I want to try and do something consructive to show you that it not like eating of floor its like eating in front of the tv you might spill something on your couch but its worth it in the end
i have an idea for a mpa if osmeone wants to make it. on high ground, make it more tactical, not just running up to a base while being sho at. like make a new tunnel that you can go through to get to the bunker easiley, and put some cover all around so you can take cover more effectively. id really like to see some more maps thaat have more tactical approaches that you are forced to take. because otherwise its a bunch of guys jumping 20 feet in the air and running at eachother shooting. there should be cover that is effective to use, and that is essential to a map so that you are forced to get behind it no matter what, not just urn up to the turret and start shootingit while it wittles down your shields. you should be forced to think tactically on a cool map, so that if theres a turret, you have to work with your buddies to distract and overwhlem it iwht no casualties. also, i think infection maps were meant to be played on foundry. ive tried on other maps they are not as good. theres just something about foundry when you have these elaborate mazes and buildings that makes you freak out and think "omfg(hevy breathing) wich way should i go? omg some1 just died down there im ****ing running this way!" rather than "omg wich way should i go? oh, look at the pretty sunlight. i love the way those cliffs weredone. and that beach, great job bung..aaaaah!"
I got second place for that thing because my interlock/geomerge skills with open containers. it looked pretty. I lost my MU so I will make a new map for this. Standoff is my idea...
