Creator: Squiiddish Supported Gametypes: Any variations of the following: One Flag, One Bomb, Infection, One VIP, One-sided Territories (my personal favorite) This map utilizes a little over 50% of Avalanche to support most asymmetric gametypes. One of Avalanche's default bases is used as the base of operations for the defending team. The landscape is dotted with towers, turrets, and vehicle hangars; use them to your advantage to gain the upperhand in this vacant wasteland. The games center around heavy ordinance warfare, be it in a Warthog, Hornet, Scorpion, or running around with Missle Pods and Lasers. Here are some overviews of the map: The attackers spawn here While Defenders spawn in this base The attackers will have a lot at their disposal to use to mount the attack: a wide array of vehicles and weapons, as well as a prime sniper nest The defenders are equally well-armed. They control most of the maps power weapons (lol if you can really call anything on this map a "power weapon"), as well as the most easily defended point on the map The first encounter will happen quickly, and probably be very, very short. Regardless of what occurs in this fight, it will probably happen near one of the two closest goals for the attackers: The neutral Middle Tower and the all-important Banshee Hangar A full-scale battle will quickly spread across this map. Inevitably, the defenders will be pushed back to their doors, and left to hold out against the wave of attackers. This is where the game gets most hectic: The final push toward the plant point/flag/last territory. The attackers may find themselves hard-pressed to achieve victory, however. The defenses are thick, and tough to penetrate. The invaluable Plasma/Spike grenades are few and far between. However, if you find yourselves desperate for victory (or you just wanna try for the jump, or you're an amazing Hlao Jumper XD), you can access the hidden armory placed near the attackers base. Its entrance is inside the middle cave If you can manage to jump across the 4 pylons and into the teleporter, you will end up here: These weapons will be invaluable in your assault on the defender's base. Use them wisely, though: Their ammo is sparse. Except the shotguns and Needlers, of course. Well, really, just Rockets are sparse. AND NOW, WE CAN HAS ACTION SHOTS The defender's AT Turret (immovable Scorpion) in action ...I'm left speechless Overlap your fire! Avalanche's Hornets aren't completely useless. This one demolished a Scorpion The Vision Test: Can you see the carjacker? THIS... IS... SPARTAAAAAA!!! You can't haz bomb plant One of the great things about Avalanche is that the Active Camo isn't as poweful as it normally is, if you're observant. Here's why: This is probably the most epic hijack in the history of Halo And there it is. This is my fourth map I've posted to ForgeHub, and it's one of my personal favorites. Be aware that it is intended to be played with some pretty big teams: 5v5 or higher is where you'll have the most fun. I have geomerged and interlocked to the best of my ability: All structures on this map (sans the defender's base, of course) are made from scratch. I'm particularly proud of the sniper post sticking out of the defender's base (It can be accessed via a teleporter on the catwalks below). I realize the Armory and it's access are pretty gimmicky, however it doesn't impact the map as much as you would think. After our initial entertainment trying to get in, it went largely unused. Also, the time you spend trying to get in will balance out the weapons you recieve from it. However, I do STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU SET THE SUICIDE PENALTY TO 0. Since this map revolves around objective gametypes, suicide penalties are like 20 seconds or something similarly ridiculous. For a true test of your patience, play SWAT One Flag or SWAT One Bomb on this map. Death galore! I recommend increasing the round length XD Final notes: Thanks to everyone who helped to test this map. Particularly ROGSRanger for showing me how to finally get my stupid lift to work. In addition, don't go toward the objective marker in any of the gametypes (That would be territory 6 in Territories, I THINK). There is no way in, THE TELEPORTER TO THE FLAG SPAWN/BOMB PLANT SITE/ETC IS IN THE BACK OF THE BASE. Please DL, Comment, and Rate! All feedback is valued. The Eye of the Storm
This looks like one of the best maps on avalanche I've seen. All the structures are built very neatly, and it looks like it'd play really good as well. I'd give it a download if my harddrive wasn't full, because this is definitally a 5/5.
That's nice, I have to say that it's not bad, but it's nothing unique... But It definatly looks well thought out, and I would like to say... EPICZ STORY.
Thanks for the feedback, guys. I tried to interlock everything as straight as I could. I'm pretty proud of my tower and bubble ^^
well it looks liek some good asthetics and but some of it looks really random like the floating base near the arch. The pic of tis is sparta made me laugh so hard i fell out of my chair. seriously.
Which floating base? The one sticking out of the Defender's Base? That one isn't floating, its connected to the actual Avalanche base. You teleport up to some bridges behind the walls up there and walk out into the bubble.
Oh the one made out of double boxes? Well where it's at, it can oversee a large portion of the map, most importantly almost all of middle tower. Someone in that nest can snipe someone going up the tower's lifts. There's also a missle pod up there to fight off enemy vehicles with (altitude+pod=pwned. Stay outta my base!)
Finally someone floated something in the inner structure of Avalanche! I've been waiting to see someone incorporate that for a while now. What I will say about this post is that you've described how the game will unfold. It's a pretty big risk, unless you've tested it enough to see the patterns and trends on it (kinda like how when playing Team Slayer on The Pit, the first main conflict invariably happens in the rocket launcher hallway). Good post for what looks like a decent map. So I remember you asking about the intermitent snowstorm thing in Forge Discussion. Did you end up figuring out how to get the same kind of "get by the warthog raper" thing (or was that for a different person and/or map @_@)?
Lol that was for this map. I never did get it to work... so the only way past the warthog-raper is to use a warthog-raper-raper. There are many of these at your disposal. I still wish I had an intermittent snowstorm... Oh well. Another day, another Forge. If I ever figure it out I'll definately make a V2
In the wonderful world of Forge, with the exception of MLG games, I don't really see how the base map makes that much of a difference. Different maps suit different styles of play. For a full-out epic armor battle, Avalanche, Sandtrap or Valhalla are the clear winners. It doesn't all have to be Foundry XD
