The Coast Overview *NOTE: THIS MAP IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO DOWNLOAD.* I started making this map with a specific vision in mind as far as gameplay and map layout. Let me explain, recently I began playing the Living Dead playlist. I noticed changes between Infection and Slayer. The way the game plays, spawn locations, weapons used, but most importantly; spots of the map used. Boardwalk and Sword Base are good examples of how gameplay changes when the game mode changes from Slayer to Infection. In a typical Slayer match, players run around all over the map, cycling through weapons, teams separate, certain spots of the map are unused and in my opinion it’s a much more laid back style. In Infection, I noticed how survivors are encouraged to stay in spots where they are able to kill zombies more easily. This creates a rush that is more fun to players. That feeling where you’re last man standing, or having to run to a spot to holdout with teammates; it’s inspired me to toy around with forge in ways I haven’t before. The Coast is my new Infection map. It features some of my new ways of thinking. Structures are built more aesthetically. This is based off the idea that if a structure looks more real, players can relate to it. It’s easier to get to the top of a normal looking building than it is to find your way to the top of a complex covenant structure with narrow passages and such. Secondly I wanted the map to have a theme. Too many times I’ve started up a forge game and got carried away with making pieces look cool and by the time testing came around, players would have problems with navigation and overall gameplay. In this map however, the whole battleground looks like some sort of coastal refuge, or fort. We’ve seen this kind of layout before, with maps like Powerhouse, or Halo 3’s High Ground. It works well because you can orient yourself in the map. Another thing I thought about was the dreaded camping spots. It can get really boring seeing players resort to abusing the map’s flaws and going to completely unfair spots. I made sure that when I built the so called last man standing spots, they weren’t impossible for zombies to get to. I designed four or five main spots to camp if you so wish. I will also show you how to get up to all of them in the pictures. Now, I know what you’re thinking, camping spots are unfair always. This is not true. Camping spots can be unfair in Slayer. In a game of Infection however, camping spots are only good to use at the end of the round, when you’ve scored enough points to go to a spot and make a stand. Not only do the spots require a couple of skilled jumps, but when you’re on top of the roofs or in the tower, it’s particularly hard to pick off zombies. So after many subtle changes, recruiting testers and acquiring feedback, I’ve finished my aesthetic Infection map. If you’re not a fan of Infection, you probably won’t be a fan of The Coast. Here are some things I would like to hear as far as feedback: I want to know if this map should be supported for other game types. I think it could also work for games like One Flag, Territories or Slayer, but I’ll let you guys decide. Also if there is anything you could see being changed, don’t hesitate. Ask questions. My gamer tag is I PAINTS I Please Note: Although the game type supported is regular Infection, I recommend you play Alpha Zombies. Screenshots "THE COAST" IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD.
Pic 4 thats me... When I played this mapwth you it was really fun. I definitely like how you spread out the initial spawns. Your ideas with rocks and secret spots are always amazing. I for sure like the mongooses, they are good for anyone who doesn't really care for infection but likes race or something of that nature. We also need to post Pangea v1 and v2 (I like the changes you did with that map as well). I hope to keep helping you test and forge maps like these. Nice!
Wtf? I had three other comments before. I'm disappointed forge hub staff.. Gotta Love it when moderators delete compliments
Makes we wonder what comments I didnt see before moderators delete them for no reason [br][/br]Edited by merge: Yes, I still host games on this map. Add my GT: I PAINTS I
Looks cool, I was never a fan of your maps, looks like you built this map by watching THFE infection videos. It looks like the humans hold out on top of the map, I kind of want to make some infection maps now, I like your pier, although the tower in your map looks a little over powered.
Editing out your porn I see, but yeah don't use white text, paint. Everyone doesn't use the dark skin.
Ok, I changed the main text color, now you can actually read my thread didn't realize people rocked the white theme. [br][/br]Edited by merge: Well, I don't even know what a THFE infection video is, but no, I didn't watch any videos. I just had this kind of beach/fort theme in my head. Just winged it. Humans actually spawn near the docks. For some reason they like to hold out there, even though it's clear that the higher ground is better. The Tower: actually one of the worst spots to go. The tower is on the opposite side of the map from human spawn, takes a while to safely get to, and then it takes two sprint jumps on a soft kill timer and then four more skilled jumps to get in the tower. Zombies can get at you from two ways up there, and once you're in the tower you have to stay on the edge because of another softkill. Like this:
